Booka Shade Drops Off Latest EP 'Blaze of Unity'

Since 2004 Booka Shade has been a name that has become synonymous with house music royalty. The Frankfurt-based pair is fresh off the release of their latest full-length record, Dear Future Self, which has received wide-spread praise from the world’s most renowned selectors. Today the duo return with their latest EP, Blaze of Unity, that’s out now on their label Blaufield Music.

2020 has been a massive year for the duo who also received recognition for the remix LP More, which features seven all-new remixes to the iconic 2010 studio album. Booka Shade has enacted a chameleon-like approach to the global house music scene. Blaze of Unity opens with “State of Grace” a breakbeat inspired intro welcomes us to their world before giving way to a dark and ominous kick-snare rhythm. A stabbing and atmospheric synth control the vibe as Booka Shade’s polished, yet sinister soundscapes take hold. “Blush 9” comes as a shimmering example of their ability musically bridge periods in time as the arpeggiated synth leads and bouncing pads transport us back to the sounds that built their storied reputation.
