Lost Frequencies Captured Our Hearts With “Are You With Me”

We all have songs from back in the day that just made us feel some kind of way and Lost Frequencies’ 2014 smash hit “Are You With Me” is among those tracks.

Felix De Laet or more commonly known by his stage name, Lost Frequencies, has been growing in the world of music since he was just a young kid. While he began by learning piano, as he got older he discovered his passion for electronic music. Being from Belgium he was heavily influenced by the European electronic dance scene listening to everything from Dutch house to German techno.

Before he became Lost Frequencies, Felix attended a boarding school where many of his fellow classmates were DJ’s in the most traditional sense. Mixing tracks of songs that were created by other people and while he felt this was not his niche, it got him to start asking about how the tracks were made. It was around this time his brother bought him his first laptop and he immediately installed Garage Band onto it.

This brings us all the way up to one of the first tracks he released, “Are You With Me”. The track itself originally began as a country song by Easton Corbin, but in 2014, Lost took the lyrics and rebuilt the song and melody creating the heartfelt track we know and love today. His track not only went platinum but hit 17 on the US Billboard charts and top 20 in the UK, France, Germany, Belgium, and more!

I remember that back in 2014, my understanding of electronic dance music was that it consisted solely of remixes. Hilariously enough, I actually heard the Dash Berlin remix of this track before I ever listened to the original. The feeling I get when I hear this track played and the crowd singing every word just takes me back to a happy place. I mean who wouldn’t want to dance by the water underneath the Mexican Sky. Are you with me?

Lyrics:

I wanna dance by water ‘neath the Mexican sky
Drink some Margaritas by a string of blue lights
Listen to the Mariachi play at midnight
Are you with me, are you with me?
Are you with me?
Are you with me?
Drink some Margaritas by a string of blue lights
Listen to the Mariachi play at midnight
Are you with me, are you with me?
I wanna dance by water ‘neath the Mexican sky
Drink some Margaritas by a string of blue lights
Listen to the Mariachi play at midnight
Are you with me, are you with me?
Are you with me?
I wanna dance by water ‘neath the Mexican sky
Drink some Margaritas by a string of blue lights
Listen to the Mariachi play at midnight
Are you with me, are you with me?
I wanna dance by water ‘neath the Mexican sky
Drink some Margaritas by a string of blue lights
Listen to the Mariachi play at midnight
Are you with me, are you with me?
