What was your first electronic music event?
Sunset Music Festival 2012 was the first real large scale electronic music event I ever attended.
What/who influenced you to attend your first event?
In 2012, my best friend started a DJ project, and we started throwing small EDM events in my hometown. That core friend group is who I attended Sunset 2012 with, and that’s where I was able to really get an understanding and fall in love with the electronic community.
What is one moment from an event that was special and why?
I think EDC Vegas 2012 is probably the event that truly changed my life. I ended up having to quit my job at the time because they wouldn’t give me the time off and I had already paid a ton of money for tickets, flights, and hotels… so I made sure that it was worth it.
I remember getting to the speedway at like 5pm and waiting for hours in the line, finally getting past security, and sprinting to the top of the speedway. When I looked down and saw all of the lights, activations, and stages… it was like something out of the movies. I couldn’t believe it was real.
We charged to the main stage and I stayed there, front row, for almost the entire first day. I was completely entranced by the production, the DJ’s, the performers… basically everything. That was the day I knew that I wanted to be involved in the music industry in some capacity forever.
What is your favorite festival or event?
It really impossible for me to choose between EDC Vegas and EDC Orlando. I haven’t missed an EDC Vegas since I first attended in 2012. EDC Vegas is where it all really started, and some of my biggest career highlights have happened there… but EDC Orlando is really like home to me. I grew up in Florida, and that’s where I started my career.
For the past 5 years, I have been involved in some capacity on the backend of EDC Orlando. I was a street team promoter in 2013, in 2014 I was hired by Insomniac as the street team director for the state of Florida. I switched to management in 2015 which is when my artist AWT was booked to open Neon Garden, in 2016 BONNIE X CLYDE made their EDC Orlando debut at circuitGROUNDS, and in 2017 BXC returned to that stage to open for Kaskade and NITTI GRITTI made his EDCO debut.
What is your favorite electronic song and why?
“Lean On” by Major Lazer, MØ, and DJ Snake. That song just speaks to me on such a deep level. It came out as I was making my transition from event management to artist management, relocating from Florida to California, and I actually was doing some assistant work for Snake’s team at the time. Every he played it, it was the staple moment in his set that hit me right in the feels.
Who are your favorite artists?
What are your favorite genres?
Hard to say because I have such a deep love and appreciation for all music, but I definitely love pop/EDM hybrids and future bass. Also, nothing beats good house music.
What do you feel your “Identity” is in the electronic music community?
I don’t really know. I hope that however my “identity” is perceived by the community, that it is a reflection of hard work, perseverance, and a desire to live life on my own terms.
Is there anything else you would like to add about yourself for the readers?
This is not my final form.
