Watch The Second Installment of Musical Freedom Artist Focus Series, Featuring JAUZ!

Sydney Grant

For the second episode of its artist focus series, Musical Freedom chats with JAUZ and his adorable pup about EDCLV, Tiësto, and more!

Founded in 2009 by EDM granddaddy Tiësto, Musical Freedom represents a massive array of all the biggest EDM artists from Martin Garrix to Oliver Heldens. Recently, the label launched its artist focus series, a short documentary series that tells the stories of various DJs in the industry through in-depth interviews. Swedish trio BROHUG helped launch the project back in June and this month it’s JAUZ (and his dog’s) turn to share the spotlight!

The video shows JAUZ at his most comfortable: chilling at his Los Angeles home with his pup, who immediately steals the show. “Any questions you have for me, you can ask to my dog,” JAUZ promptly informs the Musical Freedom crew.

The rest of the video follows the young DJ on his road to EDC Las Vegas at all camera angles. There are close-ups on JAUZ sporting trendy shades in his LA home, wide shots of JAUZ boarding a helicopter, and of course, JAUZ at all sorts of angles dominating the EDC main stage. Honestly, the sheer quality of the video is impressive. The cinematography alone is worth the four minutes and six seconds it’ll take you to watch the video start to finish.

In terms of content, I don’t want to spoil too much but if you’re like me and love JAUZ (or even if you just like him) this mini-documentary offers a fun and intimate inside-scoop on the artist’s thoughts regarding things like why he doesn’t think he’s a “main stage artist” and how excited he was to work with Tiësto on their new single “Infected”.

Watch Catching Up With JAUZ In His LA Home [Musical Freedom Focus – Episode 2] below:

Following the series, Musical Freedom will host a takeover stage at Tomorrowland, which begins Friday, July 20 in Boom, Belgium. The all-star lineup is packed with all your favorites, including those featured in the artist series, which makes those of us who will not be in attendance all the more depressed. *sigh* Maybe next year.

And for those of you who were lucky enough to snag a ticket, make sure to check out Musical Freedom’s stage while you’re there and see the full lineup below!

Sydney Grant

Sydney attributes her love for music from her mom, who insisted on playing The Foo Fighters and The White Stripes rather than Kiss FM whenever she drove carpool and agreed to allow Sydney to attend Coachella in the eighth grade as long as she could go with her. That first festival only greater affirmed Sydney’s passion for the scene, but it was not until 2013 when she attended Swedish House Mafia’s One Last Tour concert in Los Angeles that she discovered electronic music. She was hooked instantly and has since attended a total of 23 festivals, with countless concerts in between. Sydney’s favorite artists include RL Grime, Jauz, Jai Wolf, Louis The Child, Slander, Bearson and Big Gigantic but she is constantly on the look out for new music and artists to dance to. When she’s not scouring the internet for new tracks or grooving at a concert, Sydney studies Journalism and Biology full-time at the University of Oregon.
