Soulful Single by LIINKS Has Us Staring Up at the “Ceiling Fan”

Fresh out of the Westwood vault is Canadian electro-soul duo LIINKS’ new single “Ceiling Fan”.

LIINKS is a talented duo comprised of producer DWhiz and singer/songwriter Georgia Murray. Their sound is tough to characterize, but certainly not without character. It is electronic pop music infused with soulful rhythm and blues that holds a distinctly raw quality.

Like their other tracks, “Ceiling Fan” holds a dark yet resonant feel. Georgia Murray’s heart-wrenching vocals reach straight into the soul. It’s a catchy, yet haunting ballad of melancholic RnB fused with hip-hop-inspired electronic.

Murray’s lyrics invoke the painfully reflexive moments of anyone who’s ever wondered who they are, and how they got there; yearning for something or someone. Check out “Ceiling Fan” and more of their tunes on SoundCloud or Spotify!

LIINKS is becoming an increasingly familiar name in the electronic music world.

The formidable duo’s first experience making music together before they called themselves LIINKS was marked by rough beginnings. The first single they ever wrote was stolen from them on an online streaming platform by a South Korean producer, and was then later released by a mega K-pop star. After a contentious struggle, the producer later ended up in jail after the duo settled in court.

Rather than dissuading them, this incident inspired Murray and DWhiz to pursue their musical project together as LIINKS. It’s led them on an interesting creative journey that has included several huge electronic hits over the years.

The duo imprints their soulful, organic quality in everything they touch. Most recently, Georgia Murray was featured in “Say Something” and “Come My Way”, two tracks from The Funk Hunters’ new album Typecast. LIINKS is part of Westwood Recordings, who continue to put out high quality work, such as their recent release of SugarBeats’ new EP.

Gina Senegor

Gina relocated from monotonous central California to the damp, musically dense Pacific Northwest in 2009. Not long after, she became completely enveloped in the vibrant world of electronic dance music. Obsessed with the catharsis of dance and unparalleled sense of community, her life’s pursuit became attending as many live music events as possible. While she doesn’t limit her eclectic musical taste by any means, bass music is what most activates her tumultuous soul. Soon, within her grew the desire to become more involved and contribute to the community which has shown her interminable acceptance and purpose. In that pursuit, she began working with the artist relations teams at local powerhouse Foundation Nightclub and its parent company USC Events in Seattle. She’s now found a space where meaning and motivation converge and intends to embed herself as much as possible within those musical spaces.
