With just a few weeks until the release of his newest artist album, Little By Little, Lane 8 is giving us yet another taste of what is to come on January 19 in the form of his latest single, “Coming Back To You.” The third single from the album, it features vocals by JF July over a beautiful, masterfully orchestrated production that will no doubt leave an imprint on you.
The track begins unobtrusively, with a gentle, flowing beat driven forward solely by the multi-textured instrumentation and filtered vocals. A combination of traditional Chinese instruments, wind chimes, and voice that seems almost to change distance, the intro immediately puts the listener at ease and instills what can only be described as a sense of intimacy and wonder.
It builds from there, with layers upon layers of deep bass notes and percussion adding a depth and urgency to the track – conveying an added poignancy that echoes through music the sentiment in the lyrics: “You keep me coming back to you.” It’s a beautiful, heart-rending piece of music, perfectly complemented by the vocals of London-based artist JF July.
