What do you get when you blend two of the hottest acts in the electronic dance music scene? The result is a track full of progressive house rhythm with a wild party flair that only the duo known as Dada Life can put a stamp on!
“Dynasty” is the title track from the 2010 Electronica/Dance album of the same name by American DJ/producer and musician Kaskade. It features vocals by longtime collaborator Haley, who for the first time was given lead billing on this single which was actually inspired by an event that Kaskade was headlining. “Dynasty” instantly blew up, becoming one of Kaskade’s most celebrated tracks still to this day. On the remix end, we have Dada Life, the Swedish electronic music duo known for their humor and wild antics that they display during their live performances as well as in the undertones of everything they produce. Fun fact, their name actually pays homage to the absurdist movement of the early twentieth century! So it was no surprise when they took this progressive piece full of class and melody and flipped it on its head, breathing it new life and priming it for those looking for something a bit edgier.
The first time I heard this track I was instantly hooked.To be honest, it has been a few years since I last took a listen to the remix. Just the other day I had the itch to sit back and dive into some of my favorite tracks from many moons ago and the beat suddenly came flooding back into my mind. I couldn’t quite put a name to the tune so I turned to my husband and began humming the melody. It took him only a few seconds to realize where I was going with this and in a flash, he pulled up the track! I listened to it on repeat a couple of times and the memories came flooding back. This was a track that found me raging hard on the dance floor on multiple occasions and one that will forever shine a bright light on some of my very first festival experiences, hearing this remix booming through the speakers and amping the party up ten fold. In honor of these fond memories, I bring to you this week’s #TBT, Dada Life’s remix of Kaskade’s “Dynasty”!
