JOYRYDE Drops New Banger “Damn” Ft. Freddie Gibbs

in New Releases, Music

Ever since I first heard JOYRYDE’s track “The Box,” I’ve been a huge fan. His newest release, “Damn,” featuring rapper Freddie Gibbs, keeps with his dynamic, hard-hitting sound that first pulled me into JOYRYDE’s music. The song combines deep sub-base, snares, high energy beats, and Gibbs’ rhythmic vocals to create a song with head-bobbing verses and crazy bass heavy drops. JOYRYDE is somehow able to seamlessly integrate many different sounds and tempos into one track–this is what I loved about “The Box.” Both tracks have various musical elements that fit together to make the songs into fun, captivating listening experience. JOYRYDE offered some insight into his choice to use Freddie Gibbs’s vocals:

After I made the instrumental for this record, I found it very hard to fit a vocal on it. Most verses I tried were lazy and too ‘styled out.’ Freddie’s vocal crushed it. The man has a serious sense of rhythm in his bars

JOYRYDE has been on the upswing since the success and recognition of his track “Hot Drums” in September, his first release on OWSLA. Also in September, he introduced his new live stage production–“C.A.R.” at his sold-out show at Avalon in Los Angeles. C.A.R., aka “Calling All Ryders,” features a full-sized Dodge Charger on stage. Next stop for this fully immersive production is Webster Hall in New York City. This debut New York performance is scheduled for December 30th, and a full support lineup is to be announced soon, so keep your eyes peeled!
