Big Wild has teamed up with ODESZA’s Foreign Family Collective to release audio-visual short film Ascension.
A collaboration between rising star Big Wild and the forward-thinking Foreign Family Collective, ‘Ascension’ is an exploration of audio-visual art that makes for a perfect pairing. Released today via YouTube, the short video is combined with Big Wild‘s score to create a journey that is sure to leave a lasting impression.
Set in a dystopian future where machines have overtaken nature, Ascension packs a serious punch for all those who tune in. Directed and edited by The Yakuzi, the video itself is an entirely computer-rendered creation that is absolutely stunning in every way and offers viewers the chance to think deeper about the relationship between technology and nature.
This unique project is one that doesn’t come often, and Big Wild’s score blends seamlessly into the production. Whether you’re watching the video or listening to the track itself the massive clash between the two forces can be felt fully as the track progresses to completion. Hopefully, we’ll see more exploration like this from the rising star and perhaps even more collaborations that tie artistic storytelling together in the future. Read on for Big Wild’s thoughts on the project and watch the short video below!
“This art piece tells the story of an advanced society that’s become so mechanized and ruled by technology that it’s neglected the natural environment, which it, in turn, has to now rebuild. The painful irony of this situation brings to question our infatuation with technology and an increasing detachment from the natural world.
We wanted to create our own world and convey a simple but powerful message. I really wanted to experiment musically and collaborate with visual artists to create something unique. I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out!”
