Let’s take a step back to 1990’s and explore a classic tune that gets played to this day around the world!

You may not know it, but a famous sports chant that you have more than likely heard at some point in your life is based on a classic techno song from the 90’s. Not only that, but this track has been sampled in many other tracks due to it becoming famous in sports around the world. It has also been ranked #8 by Sports Illustrated in their list of ‘Top 10 Stadium Anthems’. Who knew?! This song is labeled “Kernkraft 400”, which translates to Nuclear Energy 400 in English.

The track was released in March of 1999 on Gigolo Records and was crafted by none other than, Zombie Nation. Headed up by German producer Florian Senfter, Zombie Nation released his first album Leichenschmaus later that year with the help of Emanuel Gunther (Mooner). The album included “Kernkraft 400” as the first track. Throughout the song, you can hear the following words repeated: “Zombie, zombie, zombie, zombie nation.”

My personal favorite rendition of the track is the DJ Gius remix, which was released back in 2011.

Did you know that Zombie Nation is still producing music and playing shows today? In fact, he just released a new track in June, called “Knockout”. You can listen and purchase the track here. Check out the music video for his new track here.

About Zombie Nation:

Zombie Nation came to life in 1999 when the first 12-inch record was released on DJ Hell’s International Deejay Gigolo Records. Before Zombie Nation was born, the ZN mastermind Florian Senfter, who also goes by the name Mr. Splank, used to spend his time squatting abandoned factories to organize parties with his back then crew in Munich/Germany. Splank also releases music under the alias John Starlight. Driven by the will to “create as many perfect moments as possible”, Splank has travelled the world during the last 10 years and played shows from intimate clubs to huge festivals and made Zombie Nation live its own brand. Zombie Sound – that means funky, dirty grooves between electro and house, bass-laden raw energy.
