Utilizing funds raised from the EDC Week Charity Auction in 2016, Insomniac Cares and The Shade Tree opened a renovated children’s activity center in Las Vegas last week!
Over the years Insomniac Events has stood apart from many other promoters in North America by continuously finding new ways to give back to the communities that play host to their events. With the announcement of the EDC Week Charity Auction back in 2016 came the news of which beneficiary would receive funds generated by the unique auction, The Shade Tree. Partnering with eBay to host the auction, Insomniac Cares offered up an epic amount of unique experiences and items for headliners across the country to bid on.
Since 2011, Insomniac Cares has raised over 1.7 million dollars for its non-profit partners like The Shade Tree, the Boys & Girls Club, and more. In 2016 alone, the EDC Week Charity Auction raised over $120,000 which directly funded the renovation of The Shade Tree’s Children’s Activity Center. The Shade Tree in Las Vegas provides shelter for women and children who are victims of domestic violence and/or human trafficking.
“The first time we visited The Shade Tree, we were blown away by the incredible work being done to protect the women and children in crisis in Las Vegas,” said Pasquale Rotella, Founder and CEO of Insomniac. “The growth of the EDC Week Charity Auction has been so rewarding, especially to have witnessed the transformation of the Children’s Activity Center over the past year. I am so grateful for our friends, local partners, and fans around the world for contributing to this amazing renovation that created a brand new colorful space for the kids to express themselves and feel safe at the shelter.”
Working with Nutone Construction, the Insomniac team created a fresh positive environment for the children to have fun. Now stocked with movies, books, entertainment consoles, and more, the renovation also brought along new flooring, art, window treatments, and play structure too. This positive environment will help create a long lasting impact on those who reside at the shelter for years to come.
“The renovations far exceeded anything we could have imagined for the Children’s Activity Center,” said Stacey Lockhart, executive director of The Shade Tree. “We work hard to create a safe and inspirational place for the children to grow and now we have the opportunity to offer that to the children we serve.”
