PRAANA Whisks Listeners Away on ‘Supernal Dawn’

Mysterious act PRAANA pulls the curtain on their identities after delivering sublime soundscapes on their debut album, Supernal Dawn.

PRAANA is a progressive house-centered project shrouded in mystery when it first picked up steam in 2019 with the release of “Mojave.” The past few years saw the alias frequently appear on Enhanced Music’s sublabel Colorize while also finding a home on Lane 8’s This Never Happened for some remarkable releases. Now, with the release of their debut album, Supernal Dawn, the puzzle of who is behind PRAANA has been revealed to be none other than the renowned duo of David Reed and Chad Cisneros, otherwise known as Tritonal.

The Austin-based producers have flexed their melodic might under the PRAANA alias since forming the project, and Supernal Dawn helps tell this story. Found inside is their aforementioned single, “Mojave,” along with other previously released gems like “Breathe In” with Klur and Kuala, “Landing Patterns,” “Lullaby” with Julia Church, “Sanctuary” with Ed Graves, and “Moment” with Danni Carra. Combined with the new tracks, this album showcases their transcendent progressive style as listeners embark on a journey into lush, evocative soundscapes.

“Writing a first album can feel daunting, it certainly did for us. We’re really proud of how Supernal Dawn turned out and how far PRAANA has come sonically in such a short amount of time,” the duo shared. “It helped tremendously that before conceptualizing this album, we had brought into focus what we wanted PRAANA to represent vibrationally, lyrically, and metaphysically.”

One of the biggest standouts is Julia Church’s second track with PRAANA, “Cold Wind,” which sees her deliver powerful vocals that are layered in perfectly with the booming, otherworldly progressive soundscape. Modera’s inclusion in the collection, “A Place To Rest,” is another gorgeous tune with a lighter, airy beat that will wash your worries away, while “Whole Again” with Dolly Rae warms the soul. And if you want a look at the power that PRAANA brings with them, then put “Somatic State” on for a solo ride that’s a true delight.

Starting the PRAANA project has been such a breath of fresh air and we want to thank each and everyone of you who have taken some time to engage with the sounds. Our prayer is that the music leaves you feeling more edified after consuming than before.
