EMBRZ Stuns on Sophomore Album, 'In Our Own Way'

**EMBRZ unveils gorgeous soundscapes that are dripping with emotion on his second album to land on This Never Happened, In Our Own Way.**

Lane 8‘s This Never Happened has become one of the biggest homes for artists who are climbing the ranks of the melodic house scene, and one of the most prominent to carve out space on the imprint has been EMBRZ. First landing on the imprint with tracks like “Snow” and “Heal” in 2020, he quickly won over the hearts and minds of even more fans the following year with the release of his debut album, Moments. Now, after dropping a number of fresh tunes, EMBRZ has made his grand return with his sophomore album, In Our Own Way, in tow.

EMBRZ unveiled a flurry of tunes in the lead-up to the release of In Our Own Way to help set the tone for the surreal soundscapes that would be found on the album. “IOU” was an early stunner as he teamed up with Lizzy Land, who returned after being featured on his last album. The blend of EMBRZ’s soothing melodic sounds with Lizzy’s sultry vocals makes for a heavenly combination and a perfect opener to the album itself. Follow-up singles “Over & Over” and “Wildflower” carried on with similar sonic elements as the former leans heavier into the vocals while the latter drives forward with just enough dancefloor energy to get your body moving.

Those three singles were just a small sample of what would be arriving on the album, as the remaining eight tracks showcase the dynamic range that EMBRZ brings to the scene. While “Shimmer” is filled with lighter, blissful vibes for listeners to bop their heads along to, others like “It’s raining outside” play in contrast with more pensive moments. One of the biggest standouts, “Hypnotise,” digs a bit deeper with more subterranean grooves, and the breakbeats found on “Someone To Lose” and layered vocal sample on “left ya a voicenote…” also work their magic on the ears. Finally, the closing track, “Grá,” puts EMBRZ’s piano melodies on full display to leave listeners in a thoughtful state of mind.
