Modern Tales release the second single off their recently announced debut album, Stars Align, due out June 16 on Rose Avenue Records.
Having found success in individual endeavors, brothers Jonas Rathsman and Franz Novotny have put their minds together to create Modern Tales as they forge a bond through their passion for music. The Swedish duo announced the project less than a year ago and, since then, have already provided support for RÜFÜS DU SOL on their Surrender Tour in Europe last fall. There is no slowing down for Modern Tales, who will also be taking to the stage at Sundream Baja next month.
On the music front, Modern Tales released their debut single, “Monster,” on RÜFÜS DU SOL’s Rose Avenue Records back in January. They return to the imprint with their single “Wide Awake,” off the newly announced debut album, Stars Align. Leaning on their Nordic backgrounds for inspiration, their productions are nuanced and emotive. “Wide Awake” is the second single on the album and builds momentum as we move toward the full album.
While “Monster” featured an otherwordly bassline and synth work, with wind chimes that glisten throughout, “Wide Awake” picks up the tempo and is shrouded in a bit more dark mystique. Syncopated drums and ethereal vocals that sing of unconditional love make the track haunting and hypnotizing. The track’s complexity and evocative nature make it unique. “Wide Awake” has us anxiously waiting for more. If you are a fan of RÜFÜS DU SOL, we highly recommend checking out Modern Tales.
