Tributes honoring Avicii continue to pour in, and understandably so, as the late Tim Bergling left behind a lasting legacy that continues to inspire countless artists and fans around the world. Earlier this year, it was made known that the iconic Ericsson Globe in Stockholm is now the Avicii Arena and a biography on his life is to arrive in November as well. Now, the latest to be revealed celebrating the Swedish producer is a new documentary film set to be released in 2023.
Directed by Henrik Burman, the film highlights the late producer’s life from unknown to international fame. Furthermore, the documentary is centered around newly produced material that features the late producer’s family, friends, and colleagues, and includes never-before-seen footage and interviews with Avicii himself.
At the core of the documentary, the main focus is to highlight the music and lasting impact the “Wake Me Up” producer left behind. After all, he defined an era of music and changed the music landscape by pushing the envelope with every hit he produced. The film is described as “an up-close, intimate, and epic story about his unparalleled successes and his struggles to cope with the pressure.”
Filming for the highly anticipated documentary began in 2019 and is produced by Björn Tjärnberg and Candamo Film in cooperation with Swedish National Television. As far as the director goes, Burman is known for his debut film, Yung Lean: In My Head which premiered at the 2020 Tribeca Film Festival.
