Gonzo Raines makes his Paradigm Shift debut with a guest mix full of hard, banging dance music and unreleased weapons from his vault!
Throughout the years, hard dance music in the States has been centralized in Southern California, and specifically, Los Angeles. Superstars such as Lil Texas, MARKOR, Lady Faith, and so many more made their names in SoCal, and the scene hasn’t stopped paving the way for the next generation. Among the current wave of artists, Gonzo Raines is undoubtedly a standout as he takes his hard, banging dance music wherever he goes.
Growing up surrounded by dance music thanks to his parents, Gonzo Raines first discovered the harder styles browsing Limewire as he tried to develop his own taste. He became engrossed in hard dance through the heavyweights of the genre like Showtek, TNT, Headhunterz, LNY TNZ, DJ Isaac, DJ Caffeine, and more. The legends ignited his passion, and since then, Gonzo Raines has made it his mission to spread the sound and lead the movement, just as his favorites had done before him.
Today, Gonzo Raines is one of the rising forces in the underground scene. His explosive career has earned him the opportunities to play at major clubs like Avalon Hollywood while putting the local scene on the map through parties with Hard Havoc.
Of course, Gonzo Raines is still looking to the future. He has two new releases in the works, not to mention his first official booking with Insomniac as he takes the stage with Lady Faith this weekend on October 11 in Los Angeles. Next year and beyond also look bright, with a brand-new release on a well-known label and the development of his YouTube channel with exclusive behind-the-scenes content.
Gonzo Raines stopped by to deliver a highly energetic guest mix on our Hard Dance mix series, Paradigm Shift! Gonzo Raines highlights his influences with a mix of classics from TNT and DJ Isaac while injecting a dose of the new school with epic tunes from Rooler and Warface. That’s not at all, as Gonzo Raines is also treating his loyal fans to six unreleased IDs, including his upcoming release, “Would You Feel Better?“
I hope hard dance grows and expands into more markets and cities in the States. I would love to see more DJ/producers from the States start to move the needle in the genre as it’s been driven heavily by the European and Australian DJs who have been crushing it since the start. We need more homegrown artists in this genre growing the community and pushing the music to the next level. Lastly, I see more festivals having a stage for hard dance, like we saw at Lost Lands.
