Duke Dumont Announces Sophomore Album, ‘Union,’ with Release of Lead Single

Duke Dumont flirts with trance in “Your Loving,” the lead single from his newly announced album, Union, via Astralwerks.

It’s been five years since Duke Dumont released his debut studio-length album, Duality. The UK house music DJ and producer has now shared that his next effort goes by the name Union and will come out on Astralwerks on July 25.

To whet fans’ appetite for the upcoming 12 tracks, Dumont has shared one that goes by the title “Your Loving.” Present and accounted for are the expansive atmospheres and soulful vocals that have become his hallmarks. But the singles upbeat tempo and euphoric synth arpeggio likens it somwhat to — dare we say — trance?

Dumont has said that, true to its title, the album was inspired by feelings of unity. “I’ve come to realize there aren’t many things in life that bring people together on one level,” he shared. “My album Union is a homage to this unique experience.”

“The entire essence of the album is channeled to create that feeling,” Dumont continued. “Each song was made with the live experience in mind. The album was made to be listened to in its entirety – from start to finish – and absorbed in a live music environment. It was not made to appease playlists or radio. It’s intended to take the listener on a journey, not provide a quick fix.”

After five years of releasing original music, Duke Dumont initially rose through the ranks of dance music on the backs of his BBC Radio 1-featured 2012 EPs For Club Play Only Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. By the time he released his debut album in 2020, tracks like 2015’s “I Got U” and “Ocean Drive” had become instantly recognizable to nearly any dance music fan.

Listen to “Your Loving” on Spotify or your preferred platform, and pre-order Union ahead of its July 25 release.
