Sorrow Delivers Lush Soundscapes on ‘Unrequited’

Sorrow drops his first emotion-heavy EP in six years. Unrequited is out now on White Peach Records!

Sorrow is known for how his sensory and atmospheric soundscapes blend melancholy with beauty. Evoking raw emotion with just the sounds of a melody, his music resonates with those who seek solace in frequencies.

One of the things that keeps fans captivated by Sorrow is his ability to remain in the shadows, disappearing for extended periods before reappearing with musical treasures that are well worth the wait. Much like the unpredictable nature of sorrow itself, his return is often sudden yet deeply impactful, catching listeners off guard and enveloping them in a journey that lingers long after the music ends.

It’s been six years since Sorrow last blessed us with some of his emotive work, but our patience has paid off because Unrequited is here to fill the void. In terms of variety, this EP takes the crown; it’s a genre-defying masterpiece. Each track offers something different than the last, showcasing his versatility and ability to blend styles while maintaining the emotional depth that fans have come to love.

Clear your calendar. It’s time to heal your wounds with Sorrow as you press play on Unrequited.

We begin gently with “Monologue,” where meditative tones gradually make way for high-vibrancy frequencies that fill the space. Words steeped in dejection rise to the surface, making themselves heard amidst the contrast of uplifting sounds, creating a mesmerizing tornado of hot and cold.

In “Silent Treatment,” Sorrow channels energy reminiscent of his previous work on Carpe Noctem, offering a familiar yet fresh emotional landscape. As angelic female vocals sweep through, you’re transported to a serene beach at sunset, the sky alive with vibrant pinks and oranges, inviting you to lose yourself in the moment’s beauty.

We move forward as “Fallen Angel” unfolds, offering more ambient wonders with each passing moment. Delicate chimes dance throughout the beat as you try to catch up to the echoes in your head. The track’s layers invite you deeper into a world of introspection, where every second forward feels like a chance to mend your terrors.

“Unrequited” provides vocals that portray a love leading you down a path of false hope, perfectly capturing the essence of the track’s title. Each note drips feelings of longing and unfulfilled desire, wrapping you in its bittersweet atmosphere.

“Acedia” stands out as the only collab on the EP, and it’s easy to see why. Beauuk and Sorrow’s music blends seamlessly, creating a perfect harmony between their distinct styles. Their collaboration feels like a natural progression, effortlessly weaving together their sounds to create something exponentially greater.

We come to a close with “Hedron,” picking up the pace and switching up a bit from the rest of the EP. It serves as a powerful finale, wrapping up Unrequited with a sense of reawakening while maintaining the emotional depth that has defined the journey until this point.
