Multidisciplinary producer HOLLY bares an emotional landscape across the passage of time and spins groovy moods on his new EP, Minha Vida: Hope.

Minha Vida: Hope is the third and final chapter of HOLLY‘s transformative EP concept, Minha Vida. The seven-track EP has been released via HOLLY’s imprint, iLex Records, following the release of the first part, Love, and the second part, Sadness.

In Portuguese, “minha vida” translates to “my life.” The concept of Minha Vida is bound to the passage of time and weaves together fragments of personal history: the past (Minha Vida: Love), the present (Minha Vida: Sadness) and the future (Minha Vida: Hope).

Hope has deeply emotive and meditative undertones. The EP opens with an optimistic tune, “In Love We Know Ourselves,” utilizing luminous synth textures and upbeat percussion.

In contrast, the following track, “Lost In This Cold LA,” combines a dense low end and pensive drops to deliver feelings of wandering and longing. Throughout the EP, Hope presents the listener with waves of calm and crests of determination that traverse wide-open soundscapes, washing it all down with an overall vibey, ethereal sound.

HOLLY shared personal insight on the underpinnings of the trilogy. He said it is “where I explore the past, present, and future sounds of myself while connecting them to a series of emotions that have been surrounding my life experience throughout the last few years.”

Hailing from Portugal, HOLLY (real name Miguel Oliveira) is now based in Los Angeles, where he continues to grow his genre-bending, boundary-pushing sound. He was recognized by DJ Mag and Run the Trap as “one of the top producers of 2017.” HOLLY continued his ascent, winning A-Trak‘s inaugural Goldie Awards and collaborating with heavy hitters like Zeds Dead and Danny Brown. HOLLY notably began 2024 by releasing a song in collaboration with REZZ and has recently taken the stage at renowned festivals such as Shambhala and Coachella.

In tandem with his album, he has also launched a video series, “Hot Potato,” a collaboration with Sober Rob. The video series invites guest producers onto the show for entertaining rounds of music production challenges. The first episode featured trap legends Flosstradamus and rising producer Gaszia for an entertaining DJ-centered round of “Hot Potato.”
