Carlita’s ‘Sentimental’ Serves as an Ode to Her Musical Odyssey

Melding indie dance, classical, and house elements, Carlita’s foray into full-length albums is a faultless display of musicality.

Carla Frayman, better known by her moniker Carlita, is an anomaly in today’s dance music scene. From learning piano at three to playing classical cello for the Royal Academy of Music in London, she has always strived to hone her musical prowess. Dedicating ample time to developing her skills, Carlita’s unique musical abilities have helped her rise in stardom as she continues to soar to new heights.

Releasing her first full-length album entitled Sentimental, Carlita’s strengths shine through as she displays her innate sense of musicality throughout each track. Across 12 distinct songs, the producer lends her talents in the form of piano, cello, bass guitar, drums, and more, creating a musical resume unlike any other.

The first track, “Trouble Symphony,” features Carlita’s mentor and manager, DJ Tennis. The vibey soundscape with guitar plucking leans into Turkish psychedelic rock, while the Italian-titled “Comme Ça Voce” highlights the mellotron, a traditional psych-rock element.

Impressive collaborations come in the form of “The Moment” and “Wait For You.” The former, a joint effort with SG Lewis, has his hallmark vocals layered overtop a pulsing beat ready for the dancefloor. Electronic vocalist and producer Elderbrook offers his vocals on “Wait For You,” which was also featured on his latest album.

The variety on Sentimental proves Carlita can produce any genre as she masterfully hops between sounds. The energetic tune “Planet Blue” leans toward piano house, while the highly anticipated single “Time” incorporates stutter chops for an atmospheric, melodic house song.

Carlita’s first venture into creating a cohesive body of work completes its intended purpose: painting the story of her journey with music in vivid color. Listen to Sentimental on your preferred streaming platform, and be sure to follow along on socials for upcoming tour announcements.
