Rising techno star LUMI has officially opened the doors for her new imprint, SKADI, with the release of its debut single, “Losing My Mind.”
One of the artists who has begun to quickly gain momentum in the techno and indie electronic scene lately is LUMI. She spent years honing her skills behind the decks before jumping into the studio to harness production techniques, and the results have already flowed in steadily. Not only has LUMI graced imprints like Octopus Recordings, Kneaded Pains, and HE.SHE.THEY., but she’s kicked her performances into full gear with festival and nightclub appearances throughout the year.
At Day Trip Festival earlier this summer, LUMI told us a label launch was on the horizon, and now that day has finally come. SKADI, her newly minted imprint, has officially been born into the world. This imprint is centered on the range of genres that LUMI has championed, from house to indie electronic, while remaining firmly rooted in techno. It also draws inspiration from the fashion style and Nordic roots that she exudes with her presence in the scene. After all, SKADI is the Nordic goddess of winter.
A label launch wouldn’t be complete without some new music to help trumpet its arrival, and that’s exactly what LUMI delivered along with the announcement. The first release on SKADI, “Losing My Mind,” is out now across all platforms and puts her unique take on tech house on full display. From the tunes’ hypnotic blend of drums and synths to the vocals, you can’t help but feel like your spinning out of control in the middle of a packed dancefloor as the seconds tick away.
