Jordanian artists Fairplay and Roo are set to showcase the sounds of their home country with the launch of their new record label, Vudu Amman.

Much like other regions of the world, electronic music has found quite a footing in the Middle East. From house and techno to trance and bass, artists from this area have already won over the hearts and minds of many around the globe, but Fairplay and Roo want to usher in even more talent. Taking inspiration from Vudu, a revolutionary club that helped shape the nightlife scene in Jordan, the two artists have now launched a label, Vudu Amman, to help its influence reach even more ears.

The intention behind the launch of Vudu Amman is to show off the sonic evolution, depth, and diversity of sounds that have been found in the Middle East. So what better way to mark the official launch of the imprint than by dropping off a compilation that’s filled with quality tunes? That’s exactly what Fairplay and Roo did when they put their minds together, and the ten-track ride is truly special.

Vudu Amman, Vol. 1 is out now and offers soundscapes rooted in genres like indie dance, melodic house, and afro house. Pole Position’s “Who We Are” helped guide the way as the first single to be released and it captivated listeners from the jump. Fairplay and Roo’s first tracks also helped foster the label’s multi-genre nature. Fairplay worked with Keena to bring the melodic, indie dance-twinged “Môj” to life, while Roo flexes with a quality afro house track, “Onfa Nkosi,” that will surely have you finding a groove.

Other standouts on Vudu Amman, Vol. 1 include Alican’s “Split,” Phonique and BAKKA (BR)’s “Guaraná,” Marco Resmann’s “Petra,” and Nhii’s “Kitanai,” all of which make the collection feel complete. If this is just a taste of what’s to come on Vudu Amman in the future, then that future is bright.

Listen to the first compilation from Vudu Amman on Spotify or your preferred platform, and stay tuned for more from this new imprint by following them on social media!
