Bass Music IDchart #010 – March 25-31, 2024

Medicine Place – Black Clouds

Medicine Place has a specific knack for transporting the senses to another world in his music, and he’s done just that in his latest three-track EP that dropped last week. While black clouds kicks off with a dubstep track as the opener, the final two tunes bring in some refreshing waves of breakbeat and we can’t get enough of the title track.

A spacious, dreamlike vocal echoes in increasing intensity to set the scene of a serene soundscape before the head-nodding breaks take over, bringing deep and moody basslines in with them.

Jessica Audifred and GG Magree – Don’t Speak

Jessica Audifred and GG Magree are the duo we never knew we needed as they put their respective musical talents together for “Don’t Speak,” which dropped on Monstercat last week.

GG’s powerful, pop-leaning vocals complete Jessica’s unique blend of dubstep elements. It’s far from your average dubstep tune as some tasteful, jungly drums can be heard thrown into the mix, and listeners are in for a surprise with the sped-up second drop.

ColtCuts – Rancour

Delve into a deep, wobbling journey on ColtCuts‘ latest offering, “Rancour.” It arrived last week via coveted UK imprint Wheel & Deal Records, and there was no better home for this sweet new 140 tune.

It may be a simple beat at first impression — but cue it up again. You’ll surely hear different little sounds with a more careful listen, like the meticulous attention to detail in the drums and distortions.

Molecular and Lavance – Next Level

Drum and bass heads got their fix this week with a new heater from Molecular and Lavance. Released via Sofa Sound, this edgy beat kicks off with a sinister-sounding intro before descending into DnB madness.

A certified dancefloor pleaser, this heavy stomper is guaranteed to make both the UK and US crowds dance their hearts out.

Teffa – G Wagon

Teffa made his return to Chad Dubz‘s Foundation Audio this week with a brand-new four-track EP, EOZ. The full project features the usual variety of experimental sonics for which the Leeds-based dubstep producer is known.

The third beat “G Wagon” is a quick favorite with unexpected details at every turn, and of course, the deep, sultry basslines Teffa executes so well.
