Bass music lovers were treated to new releases from Tantrum Desire, EAZYBAKED, Zomboy, Substance, ATYYA, and Rakjay last week.

While mainstage music reigned supreme in late February with events like Skyline Los Angeles and EDC Mexico kicking off festival season, bass music fans have been patiently awaiting plenty of spring gatherings on the horizon. From Texas Eclipse to Zeds Dead‘s First Contact, and from Suwannee Rendezvous to Chicagoland’s Solar Tide, there’s more than enough to choose from coming up quickly.

Releases continue to flood the scene in every genre as the preparation for full-blown festival season is underway. Be sure to check back to this series every Tuesday for five of the top bass music releases each week that you may have missed.

For the week of February 19-25, bassheads were treated to new beats from Tantrum Desire, EAZYBAKED, Zomboy, and more. As always, we’ve narrowed down five favorites from a little bit of every corner of bass music. Keep scrolling to check them out.

Keep reading for more information on five fresh tracks that dropped this week, and listen to more bass music curations on EDM Identity’s Colossal Commotion and Drum & Bass Delights playlists for the latest tracks updated weekly.

Bass Music IDchart 005 – February 19-25, 2024

Tantrum Desire – Cluster

Nostalgia always sets in when Tantrum Desire enters the soundscape. As an artist well-respected in the UK drum and bass scene for well over a decade, he always seems to capture the same classic spark that can be found in his older sound design.

This week, UKF released the legend’s latest: a fast favorite by the name “Cluster.” Be careful not to speed if listening to this one while driving, because Tantrum Desire has a way of making the listener feel disconnected and free.

EAZYBAKED – Rollin’ Deep

Everyone’s favorite experimental bass duo EAZYBAKED made their debut on Rezz‘s HypnoVizion imprint this past week with a long-time crowd favorite, “Rollin’ Deep.”

Leaning on their signature sound that any fan will recognize in a heartbeat, EAZYBAKED bring listeners on a journey through the unexpected. It’s crafted for big sound systems, so you can only imagine how crispy and clear each deep distortion and wobble will ring live.

Substance – Roaches

Canadian dubstep producer Substance made his debut on London’s Wheel & Deal Records this week with his four-track Detonator EP. Featuring two solo tracks and two collaborations, the project gives off a post-apocalyptic theme.

The final track, “Roaches,” is a dancefloor weapon fit for the closing statement of the project. Substance shows off his knack for creating that addicting 140 beat with plenty of touches of his unique sound.

Doctor P – Big Boss (Zomboy Remix)

Any seasoned bass fan will undoubtedly recognize the squeaky, high-pitched build-up and drop that is Doctor P‘s “Big Boss.” First released in 2011, the tune became an iconic sound in dubstep that would be rinsed and remixed by other bass artists for years to come.

This week saw another legend in the dubstep scene, Zomboy, release his take on the classic thirteen years later. A remix like this one being released in 2024 only further proves the timeless relevance of Doctor P’s tune.

ATYYA and Rakjay – High Level

ATYYA wowed listeners this week with his brand-new 10-track album, The Indivisible. The vision behind the album’s aesthetic is the idea that people share an unbreakable bond when immersed in sound.

The ninth track, “High Level,” is a collaboration with hot, up-and-coming UK grime vocalist Rakjay. The pairing make for a lethal duo as Rakjay’s dark rhymes fall into place with ATYYA’s satisfying 140 tempo.
