TRUTH, Ashez, & PAV4N – Online Overdose
In what seems like a long-overdue collaboration, Deep Dark and Dangerous leaders TRUTH teamed up with UK grime vocalist PAV4N and fellow producer Ashez this week for “Online Overdose.” The pairing couldn’t be more perfect as the UK-influenced powerhouses join forces for the first time.
PAV4N wastes no time kicking off the track with catchy vocal bars to reel in the listener. TRUTH and Ashez quickly delve into their signature 140 tempo underneath the rhymes, complete with eerie details to drive home the post-apocalyptic aesthetic.
Nia Archives – Silence Is Loud
Following Nia Archives‘ recent meteoric success within the UK music scene, this week saw the junglist queen announce her debut album, and fans couldn’t be more excited. Alongside the announcement came the effort’s title track, “Silence Is Loud.”
In this short and sweet tune, Nia offers a vibrant sneak peek of the rest to come from her forthcoming project this April. “Silence Is Loud” presents as a nostalgically timeless classic while simultaneously remaining true to Nia’s modern signature sound.
Joker – Juggernaut
He’s back! Following a long hiatus from US shows, UK dubstep legend Joker has begun to announce gigs across the pond for 2024. This week saw him revealed as the first headliner for this year’s Infrasound Festival as well as two new tracks from the artist via Kapsize Recordings.
Encapsulating that classic Joker sound that fans have come to know and love, “Juggernaut” is simple but striking. Six minutes of 140 goodness doesn’t seem long enough when listening to this head-bopping gem. You’ll need to run it back.
Alix Perez – Psychosis
1985 Music king and label head Alix Perez returned to his imprint with another new single last week following his recent hit track with Flowdan. Both are singles from his forthcoming Gloom EP that will be released in full on March 1.
As the solo star on this track, Perez delves into the dark and ominous 140 roots fans have come to expect from his imprint. Deep distortions circle as the signature bassline makes its ebb and flow throughout the soundscape.
Rezz – CAN YOU SEE ME?
Rezz fans all over social media lost their minds this past week with the popular masked DJ’s latest release, “CAN YOU SEE ME?” It dropped via her own imprint, HypnoVizion.
The track follows a classic REZZ style of hypnotic mid-tempo beats with circulating vocal stabs that repeat the song’s title in eerie whispers. While the track had been unreleased for quite some time, there’s no doubt her faithful fanbase was ecstatic to see its release.
