Damian Lazarus looks to Francesca Lombardo to mark the 100th release on Rebellion with the fantastic, four-track Synthesize EP.
It was over a decade ago when Damian Lazarus expanded his Crosstown Rebels imprint to include more sounds on the sub-label Rebellion. Since then, the label has played host to a plethora of artists showing off some of the best and brightest sounds in house and techno as it has grown to an immense size. This year marks an important milestone for Rebellion as they’ve reached their 100th release – and who better than Francesca Lombardo to provide some fresh sounds to celebrate it in style?
UK-based artist Francesca Lombardo has carved out an impressive niche for herself in the underground scene with releases on labels ranging from Sweat It Out and Desert Hearts to the aforementioned Crosstown Rebels and her own imprint, Echoe. Her latest EP, Synthesize, follows the release of “Enjoy the Playa” in October and offers four fresh tunes centered in the realm of minimal and deep tech.
The title track leads the way on this journey into the subterranean realm with its gorgeous synths and other-worldly elements layered in for added effect. If that offering doesn’t satiate your cravings, then Francesca Lombardo flips the script with an alternative version with female vocals and a moody ambiance. Then it’s time to blast off to the cosmos as “Another Spin Around the Sun” and “Through the Moon’s Shadow” come into play. Both of these tracks will leave you feeling like you’re taking a trip to far-off reaches of the Milky Way as the percussion is met with melodic elements for a match made in heaven.
