Matoma Shares His ‘Love For The Beat’ in New Album

Get ready to dance. Matoma’s bringing it back to the club with Love For The Beat, his first album in five years!

Back in 2018, Matoma delivered his debut album, One In A Million. That multi-genre masterpiece featured a variety of moods — and while a few of its selections were perfect for the lasers and lights, the Norwegian beatmaker has been itching to serve up something that can be appreciated in the club from start to finish. Love For The Beat accomplishes the mission.

This ten-track party features collaborations with some of the greatest minds in music, like multi-platinum musician BullySongs, who joined Matoma on the preview track, “Sodium Sky.” This tune had us all raising our hands to the heavens. You may as well keep yours held high because the rest of the album is just as inspiring.

Take “Easy To Love” featuring Teddy Swims. The iconic Armin van Buuren linked up with the boys on this one, and together the trio developed a soothing singalong that will get feet effortlessly gliding on the dancefloor. The great thing about many of the tracks on this album is that while they do convince fans to flex their own vocal cords, they make an emotional impact with highly relatable messages.

“Don’t Give Up On Me” featuring Sadie Rose Van, “Break My Own Heart” featuring HARLEE, and “Work It Out” with Bava are prime examples. They express desperation and the tough yet necessary decisions we have to make when it comes to intimate relationships. Coming out the other side, “Sound of Shadows” with JP Cooper and “Bittersweet” will leave listeners reminiscing about the past and clutching the power that comes with moving on.

This brings us to “Deeper” with H. Kenneth and “The Power.” The former flips the script to describe a successful love interest and the desire to merge and become one body, mind, and soul. The latter reminds us that no matter who stays or leaves, it’s imperative to put one foot in front of the other and live in the moment like there’s no tomorrow. The album closer, “Won’t Follow You Home” featuring James Droll, doubles down with a reminder to let the past stay in the past.

Messages aside, each and every track on Love For The Beat is accompanied by punchy house rhythms and sweet melodies that allow the listener to float away on cloud nine. Matoma meant business when he said that this one would take us back to his roots. There’s no doubt that these tracks will keep the dancefloor warm and cozy for the chilly months to follow.
