Get a Dose of Future Bass with k?d’s ‘Past Life’ EP

in New Releases

k?d explores future bass, melodic midtempo, and more as he delivers his latest EP, Past Life, on Ophelia Records.

It’s truly been rewarding to see the evolution of k?d over the years. Taking inspiration from Japanese culture and effortlessly navigating elements of future bass, electro, and synthwave in releases, k?d has carved his niche in the dance music space. Early fans will remember tracks like “Fourth Impact” with Rezz, “Discover” with RKCB, and “Lose Myself” with Phil Good, as his fan base has grown throughout the years with each release.

Since his debut album, CAGE SCRIPT, dropped near the end of last year, k?d has kept quite busy, playing festivals and embarking on his accompanying album tour. As we near the end of 2023, fans are ecstatic to see him enter a new era and return to his roots in his latest EP, Past Life.

Finding a perfect home on Ophelia Records, Past Life is a four-track journey through dreamy future bass, wistful midtempo, and more. The EP opens up with Nevve’s soothing vocals guiding us through “On My Own.” Melodic bass-fueled highs and lows throw listeners in their feels as they embark on a journey of self-discovery throughout the track, with lyrics like “Taking my time, and I’m never too late. Holding my ground, getting stronger each day.”

“Starting From Scratch” tugs on heartstrings as the track guides listeners through what seems to be the end of a relationship. Feelings of nostalgia also run rampant, reminiscent of a golden era of dance music. Fans can take a refreshing sip of “The Water” next, as the single’s calming vocals and blissful melodies carry listeners away. As the EP ends, “Your World” offers a trip back to the early days of k?d through a euphoric pulse and his signature glitchy notes.

Past Life successfully explores melodic bass, downtempo, and midtempo as k?d dives headfirst into his future bass era. His modern twist on conventional future bass resonates well with fans, and we can’t wait to see what other new music this artist has in store for us.
