Chicago-based artist Ōsé is gearing up to drop his latest EP on 5150 and is channeling spirits with his latest mix filled with originals.
Chicago is the city where house music was born, and ever since then, there have been countless artists who have risen through the ranks of the scene with their infectious grooves in town. Ōsé is one of the latest artists making a splash from the Windy City with releases on labels ranging from Trick and Farris Wheel Recordings to Space Yacht and Relief, not to mention his own imprint, 5150.
5150 has been a bit quiet in 2023 on the release front, with Ōsé dropping tech house gem “Halitosis” in March. But that’s all about to change this month as he’s slated to release a fresh two-tracker called Self Help that will help energize souls on October 30. The title track on this release is a perfect fit for the spookiest of seasons with its ominous soundscape, monotone vocals, and dark, brooding atmosphere. On the flip side, Ōsé channels the past on the second track, “Dave’s Rave.” This jackin’ house heater pays tribute to Chicago’s rich history with the genre and is an electric ride with its weighty kicks and upbeat aura.
The release of Self Help isn’t all that Ōsé had in store for the month either, as beyond the celebration of the new EP, he dropped off an all-originals mix that you shouldn’t sleep on. Mixed in celebration of the Gaelic festival Samhain, this Chicagoan is channeling spirits as he guides everyone through his tracks like “Acid Love Affair” and a flurry of IDs, including collaborations with Basura Boyz and Tombz, that show off what he has in store for the future.
