The first LSR/CITY single, “Like A Prayer,” has arrived in full form with a visualizer that will leave you stunned.
Gareth Emery has reached immense heights in the electronic music scene over the past two decades. From his earliest days as a trance producer who was cutting his chops and catching the ear of artists like Armin van Buuren and Above & Beyond to becoming a label owner with the launch of Garuda and exploring new sonic avenues, he’s continued to stake a wider claim with each passing year. Gareth’s releases and performances are just one aspect of his legendary status, as he’s also upped his production along the way with significant series like Laserface.
Lasers are a common theme for Gareth Emery, as he didn’t just deliver jaw-dropping performances during Laserface shows but also took his sound in a new direction with the release of The Lasers. And while last year saw him drop off his final album, ANALOG, he made it clear that he wasn’t done with his work quite yet. The launch of LSR/CITY arrived in 2022, and with it came a new era that Gareth Emery set off to show his fans. Now, he’s taken the project one step further with the release of the project’s first official single, “Like A Prayer.”
For quite some time, I’ve wanted another outlet to release different music from Gaz records. Darker, driving, more lasery. Music I can make without any of the expectations or that come after a few decades of doing this shit. I’m not sure exactly when I had the lightbulb moment that we already had the perfect vehicle for it: a fresh project that already had an epic show that insane numbers of people want to see. So, meet LSR/CITY the artist, and the start of a new body of work I’ve been working on for the last 18 months or so.

“Like A Prayer” harkens back to the classic pop tune from Madonna with its lyrics, but Gareth Emery twisted it to his own liking with his signature trance elements that make it ready for the mainstage of any festival. He also looked to Annabel to provide the sultry vocals for the track, further adding to its overall ambiance and making it leave an even more lasting impression. And true to form, Gareth Emery didn’t stop there for the debut of LSR/CITY. Paired with the track’s release is an insane visualizer that will take your breath away with its crisp, 4K graphics that will hypnotize your mind throughout its runtime.
