Big Gigantic and NGHTMRE Join Forces as Gigantic NGHTMRE on Self-Titled EP

NGHTMRE’s monstrous bass collides with Big Gigantic’s funky liveliness on their first EP as Gigantic NGHTMRE!

Following the release of his first full-length album DRMVRSE in 2022, NGHTMRE is back at it with previous collaborators Big Gigantic to offer fans some binge-worthy tracks via his Gud Vibrations imprint. The LA producer excels in creative partnerships, as evidenced by his co-ownership of the label with SLANDER and impressive discography of credits across genres.

Fueled by a wildly entertaining combination of live instrumentation and electronic elements, Big Gigantic bring excitement and a ton of talent wherever they go. Their sound snaps the crowd onto the dancefloor. It’s fitting, then that the Denver duo are preparing to headline a killer lineup at Red Rocks Amphitheatre for Rowdytown XI in September alongside their part in Gigantic NGHTMRE’s release and Brooklyn Mirage show.

Tyler and I got this idea for a song after one of our shows that has sax and bass on the drop, and we added this sick vocal to it. It’s a song that really blends our two styles together and I really love the way it turned out.

Big Gigantic

Having previously dropped a single together back in 2018, Big Gigantic and NGHTMRE left fans hanging half a decade waiting for a new collaboration — and it’s well worth the wait! Their single “Back For More” featuring Olivia Sebastianelli was released in June and showcased at Shamabala Music Festival leading up to the full EP this week. Now, the revitalized trio are gearing up for a production-heavy set at the Brooklyn Mirage that will double as an official release party.

I remember discovering Big Gigantic’s music while wandering around as a fan at Camp Bisco in 2012! I got the chance to collaborate with them in 2018 and it was a no brainer! Once we dropped ‘like that,’ we got the opportunity to play some of the biggest festivals around the US and they’ve been some of the best memories I’ve had so far in music. We finally found time to write music together this year and we are so so proud of how this music is sounding. So stoked to share it with the world!!”

“Back For More” features Olivia Sebastianelli’s strong vocals backed by downward-spiraling melodic lines and well-structured bass to kick things off with intention. The track is catchy, danceable, and triumphs in showcasing each collaborator’s unique, individual skill set. A solid blend of saxophone riffs, realistic sirens, and hip-hop elements adds flavor while maintaining a cool level of fashionable funk on “Disconnected,” which encourages listeners to “lose control.”

Choral hits and a Southern vibe with a fanfare intro lead into a filthy, bass-riddled drop on “Twilight” before finishing with a slide fade and exuberant vocals that highlight a region that rarely receives attention in dance music. SAFIA is featured on “Never Loved You Like That,” which pairs raw and emotional vocals with immaculate instrumentation via piano and a tension-building percussion line. The EP closes with “Keep the Change,” which takes a turn toward pop but remains solidly dance-worthy thanks to its lean and rock vibes, fun instrumental lines, and anthemic lyrics.
