Embark on a Journey to ‘Microworlds’ with CloZee

in Album Review

CloZee’s third studio album Microworlds opens the doors to a surreal sonic realm filled with emotion as she shows off her stunning production talents.

From releasing captivating albums to performing live sets that have left crowds in a state of awe, CloZee has only continued to prove that she’s one of the best artists in the current era of the electronic music scene. While this French artist has championed bass-fueled soundscapes for much of her career, the continued exploration of different sonic realms has seen her dabble in melodic house, electronic UK Garage, and more. CloZee’s recently released album, Microworlds, carries on with that trend and offers a hearty helping of dynamic tracks for listeners to soak in.

Microworlds was created over a two-year span, making it the longest creative process of CloZee’s career to date. “After overcoming the longest writer’s block of my career, I tapped into a lot of my memories and past stories to write those songs,” she said. “It’s been a hard but incredible inner journey. I hope it will resonate with people, create new memories for them and become the soundtrack to some of their own life experiences.”

“Courage,” “Skylight,” and “Odysseys” with Tripp St. arrived over the past few months as CloZee began to build anticipation for the full release of Microworlds. Each of these singles offered a glimpse into her creative mind, with the final single showing off a touch of her funky, collaborative side – and now, the entire album has been unveiled for her fans to experience.

The title track sets the tone for the bass-filled soundscapes littered with glittery elements and vibrant synths that are found on Microworlds, which is only put more prominently on display in other singles such as “Pillow Talk,” “VISIONS,” and “Tomboy.” “Antares” bucks that trend with its haunting tones and stuttered beat as CloZee creates a hypnotic ride that you’ll find yourself returning to repeatedly.

Bass isn’t the only aspect of Microworlds that stands out. The vocal performance from Ella Vos on “Glow In The Dark” is otherworldly when paired with the gorgeous production from CloZee that adds to the overall sultriness of the track. ROZET packs plenty of emotion with her vocals on “Courage” as the tune sweeps listeners off their feet and doses them with uplifting, cinematic tones. Meanwhile, the organic elements found in “Childhood” will have you filled with energy, while “Contemplation” and “Missing You” deliver more pensive, downtempo soundscapes as a solid contrast.

Microworlds might’ve been two years in the making, but it’s one of CloZee’s best bodies of work that she’s gifted to the world. Listen to the album on Spotify or your preferred platform, and catch her when she heads to a city near you on tour this fall!
