GRL GANG founder and femme bass phenom JEANIE brings forth her third EP, Disturbing Data, on Disciple Round Table.
JEANIE has helped set the standard for what future leaders in the bass music scene should strive to be. The past few years have seen her foster inclusivity and girl power through her collective turned label, GRL GANG, while she’s continued to carve out her own niche in the community with her powerful stage presence and high-quality productions. During this time, JEANIE has graced imprints, including Bassrush, Circus Records, and Dim Mak, to name a few, and she’s taken the stage at festivals ranging from Nocturnal Wonderland to Lost Lands.
Spectacular tracks like “Disconnect,” “Hell Hole” with Level Up, and “Friends With The Dead” with MADGRRL, made it easy to expect plenty of intense bass whenever JEANIE dropped something fresh. Now, she’s returned to Disciple Round Table with her third EP, Disturbing Data, which only further displays her production abilities.
I dug deep into my hard drives for my most disturbing works, and out came the ‘Disturbing Data’ EP. This collection feels like the next evolution of my sound and I’m honored to be putting it out with the legendary Disciple Round Table crew. Releasing an EP on Disciple has been a longtime goal of mine, especially after previously releasing a collaboration with them on my friend Cyclops’ EP. I’m super stoked as it’s one of my go-to labels when looking for music to build my sets.
JEANIE
JEANIE shows off a new side with the four tracks found on the Disturbing Data EP, all of which serve as a reminder of her versatile capabilities. The first track, “S.U.B,” contains all the heavy-hitting bass you could want with thunderous energy that feels like a giant’s footsteps falling all around you, leading perfectly into the next hard-hitting tune, “Malfunktion.” Then, “Signal Breaker” with Felmax kicks up the tempo giving us an unexpected pump, before “Metalware” sees her team up with underground star SQISHI bringing some of the grittiest chops you can experience in the scene.
While JEANIE may be dainty, her reputation is anything but as the widely talented producer, curator, and label head continues to surprise at every turn.
