Qlank Brings ‘Modern Mechanics’ to IN / ROTATION

Qlank arrives home to Insomniac’s IN / ROTATION, and he brought along his latest package of bass house beats – Modern Mechanics!

The first time LA-based Qlank knocked at the door of Insomniac’s IN / ROTATION was back in 2019. The exhilarating package of tunes that the brand took on was called New Times, and, just like the title intended, it would mark the start of a promising relationship with the Insomniac family. Since that fateful day, Qlank went on to release a flurry of singles and EPs on the label, and today he returns home with five fresh tracks he calls Modern Mechanics!

The overall meaning behind this ‘Modern Mechanics’ EP is directly correlated to my current sound and becoming more intricate and developing my skills further. I’m always trying to improve and learn new things and techniques while staying true to the music I love and love to create.

Qlank

The title and the music within were designed to express the new techniques that Qlank has been hard at work perfecting. He was gracious enough to give fans a taste of what to expect with the unleashing of “You Right” back in April. The world received an infectious tune that focused on getting every human to dedicate their body to the dancefloor with the lyrics, “front, back, left, right, stay up all night, take the next flight, you know you right.”

With the focus set and the rave commencing, listeners get to continue to ride the vocal wave with a saucy performance by Time Dee. She gets the heart thumping to excess on “Life Alert,” encouraging the crowd to flirt and flail in response. The sexy sound design comes tied to a dark and ravishing undertone, making it the perfect selection when you want the party to get extra rowdy. But, if rowdy isn’t your vibe, then set your ears on “Find Away,” a track that levels out the energy but presents a tiny touch of chaos to make the comedown easy.

Of course, Qlank won’t have us resting for too long. He answers with “Pretty Deep,” a name that doesn’t do enough justice to the devilishly deep groove it represents. In fact, the smoldering soundwaves refuse to relent from start to finish and have enough power to twist the body into a pretzel. The atmosphere only gets more insane from here, with “So High” ensuring that the brain gets twisted up as much as the body. This package closes with quite a bang, featuring a trippy rise from the abyss and a backend breakdown that will vibrate the senses straight to loony town.
