Skeler Drops ‘Night Drive Part III’ Following Back-to-Back Album Releases

Wave maestro Skeler dove full speed ahead into 2023 by releasing two albums and now the third part of his beloved Night Drive series

There’s no doubt that every fan of wave music is probably a fan of Australian producer Skeler. As a leader in the genre, he has crafted a unique aesthetic that has captured and held the attention of electronic enthusiasts across the globe. He’s risen to YouTube and SoundCloud stardom in recent years after proving his uncanny ability to break genre boundaries and create sounds that are widely receptive to even non-electronic listeners in his Night Drive mix series.

While classified under the umbrella term of “wave” music, Skeler’s magic touch truly can’t be boxed into one genre as he uses elements of various sonic realms to create his own unique flavor of wave. Taking inspiration from sounds of trap, emotional hip hop, downtempo, neuro, breakbeat, and even trance, he creates euphoric, bass-rich soundscapes that offer a comforting feeling of familiarity while being comparable to nothing you’ve ever heard before.

Painting the image of a somber drive at night through an empty, futuristic cityscape within the music, Skeler debuted the Night Drive in the summer of 2020, and the second landed in the summer of 2021. The first two mixes contained nothing but original IDs and remixes, including his stunning Devilish Trio reworks and his spin on emotional classics like Rhianna’s “Umbrella,” Blue Foundation’s “Eyes on Fire,” and Juice WRLD’s “Conversations,” showing how much unreleased material he had up his sleeves.

While many of the remixes found their way onto streaming platforms, all of the Skeler originals remained unreleased, and the summer of 2022 passed with no sign of a new part to the series. It wasn’t until early 2023 that he seemingly unleashed everything fans were waiting so patiently for almost all at once, with two full-length albums titled after the mix series, a long-awaited US tour announcement, and most recently, Night Drive Part III.

Ten Skeler originals from each of the first two mixes that were once IDs found their homes on the two back-to-back albums, with the first ten dropping on Night Drive in February and the next on Night Drive Part II in March. Fans of the mix series recognized every tune on the albums in the same perfect order that they appear in the mixes. While plenty of IDs from the first two still remain unreleased, listeners were treated to an entire next edition’s worth of brand-new ones yet again on the latest mix.

The two-hour journey opens up in classic Night Drive fashion with a new Devilish Trio remix before speeding into the moonlight musical ride. A Skeler spin on Dido’s “Thank You,” another sultry Juice WRLD flip to obsess over, and even some Playboi Carti in the mix are just a few of the tunes you’ll hear in his newest collection of IDs. Oldies from the original two mixes that didn’t end up on the two albums found their way into the last half of the mix as well to remind fans that there’s always still more in the vault.

Night Drive Part III is out now via YouTube and soon to hit SoundCloud, so be sure to hit play below to embark on the latest experience from Skeler for yourself.
