San Diego-based producer Keiji kicks off the Road to Basscon Wasteland with a guest mix that showcases his signature, euphoric style.
When it comes to artists that have represented hard dance in America since the early dawn, Keiji is one that certainly comes to mind. The Oakland-born producer has been holding it down for hard dance and perfecting his signature euphoric style since 2011 when he began his producing career. His sound transcends the simple buildup-and-drop formula as he takes it one step further to tell a story by embracing raw emotion and making it shine bright through every melody and distorted kickdrum.
His journey into the harder styles began as a teenager when he watched the iconic “Melbourne Shuffle Compilation 3” video on YouTube by Jack40k. After watching, Keiji was determined to learn how to shuffle and jumpstyle, which he loved. This hobby eventually turned into a passion for creating music so he could spread the joy he once felt to others by making them dance just as he did when he was younger.
As he geared up his playbook full of dancefloor heaters, he started to play underground parties throughout San Francisco and the rest of the Bay Area. And now with over a decade of experience, Keiji has become one of the most decorated producers in America representing the biggest brands like Basscon and Keeping the Rave Alive in addition to playing alongside the greatest names in the scene like Headhunterz, Code Black, and Atmozfears.
Hard dance has been the center of my life since I was a teenager. It’s how I learned how to be social, make friends, and be my own person. I’ve been able to further my love for making music through hard dance but most importantly, it’s how I gained a family away from my own since moving from the Bay Area.

On February 24, Keiji is set to take the stage at Basscon Wasteland alongside Lucky Rabbit for a special back-to-back set that will be sure to blow everyone away in attendance. To celebrate the occasion, he stopped by to spin up an energetic guest mix that gives listeners a taste of what he brings to the table when he’s behind the decks. Throughout the mix, fans can expect to hear an abundance of euphoric hardstyle from the best talent like Firelite, Wasted Penguinz, Cyber & Sylence, and much more. Without spoiling too much, make sure to take a listen and prepare for the madness to come this year at the stacked edition of Basscon Wasteland!
The American Hard Dance scene will continue to be a melting pot for a lot of genres. We see it now with influences from dubstep, psytrance, techno, house, drum & bass, pop, and so much more. What makes the USA scene special is the ability to take these different styles and blend them together in cool and interesting ways. I want to name everyone but just to start with a few, people like TALON, Lucky Rabbit, NTXC, Kreation, LLLLNNNN, and KAMI are great examples. It makes me really excited to see how the music progresses from here.
