SG Lewis delivers his most substantial body of work to date, AudioLust & HigherLove, featuring collaborations with Tove Lo, Ty Dolla $ign, and more!
English producer, DJ, and multi-instrumentalist SG Lewis has elevated his disco-infused dance floor sound to the highest level of his career with his latest 15-track album AudioLust & HigherLove. Featuring an A-list roster of collaborations, his one-of-a-kind futuristic disco delivers a home run of modern dance excellence in a way few producers can achieve. Yet, over the years, SG has established himself as the type of producer that refuses to conform to any preconceived trends that saturate dance floors and festivals season to season.
It has become crystal clear that SG Lewis’ ability to capture the raw vulnerability we find ourselves in within the wee hours of the morning never seems to tire. He has a massive catalog of hits that he has steadily built upon from his early emotive ballads, such as 2015’s “No Less” to 2018’s masterpiece EP Dusk featuring timeless sunrise-soaked tracks “Coming Up” and “Aura.” Building upon his breath-taking debut album Times, SG Lewis now pulls everyone into his kaleidoscopic future-disco world, and simply put, you won’t be able to get enough.
As our collective dance music community all too often succumbs to cook-cutter fads and re-hashed sonic formulas, AudioLust & HigherLove delivers a disco-drenched breath of fresh air as we enter SG Lewis’ most successful body of work to date. Leading up to the complete release, SG Lewis blessed fans with jaw-dropping singles.
Early standout “Vibe Like This,” featuring Ty Dolla $ign and Lucky Daye, instantly became a definitive reference point for AudioLust &HigherLove, standing in a league of its own. The utterly infectious single, “Missing You,” delivers a one-two punch of SG’s freshly minted future disco sound that will leave even the most pretentious of house heads shuffling the night away. While last summer’s delivery of “Something About Your Love” places warm vocals and addictive bass grooves front and center as they carry you away in a technicolor rainbow of sonic bliss.
A master collaborator from the very beginning, SG Lewis taps vocal powerhouse Tove Lo for “Call on Me.” Her sultry lyrics and lusty allure pair perfectly with SG Lewis’ electrifying synth work to create a high-energy, festival-ready banger that is sure to move the masses in a way few artists have achieved before. While “Infatuation” slightly slows the tempo, he once again delivers a passionate, serotonin-boosting bop that expertly captures the feelings of love at first sight on the dance floor. At the same time, his bubbling basslines and glittering synths carry the track from beginning to end.
SG Lewis asserts his production mastery in “Holding On.”
From the first listen of “Holding On,” I fell down a welcomed rabbit hole of the SG Lewis sound that sucked me in all those years ago. Shimmering keys within the intro immediately sound reminiscent of his Times era while ushering in an influential new era of emotional dance music that touches the heart and warms the soul. Easily one of AudioLust & HigherLove’s strongest tracks, a shredding guitar solo reminds us all that SG Lewis is much more than simply an electronic producer. His mastery of combining multi-instrumentation alongside powerful electronic compositions is precisely why this record will stand in a league of its own for years to come.
“Oh Laura,” co-written with esteemed producer Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (TEED), takes listeners back to the sonic era of ’80s synth wave to explore the late-night betrayal of a fictitious lover. It’s a song tailor-made for those long drives that seem more therapeutic than any other form of mental release. Ethereal energy permeates the vibe on “Fever Dreamer,” as SG Lewis provides an inextinguishable bass groove underneath silky smooth vocals from Charlotte Day Wilson and disco-drenched raps from the one and only Channel Tres, who has a knack for flipping any track he touches into an immediate favorite.
SG has always carried a mastery of conveying love through music within his tunes, and “Lifetime” achieves exactly that.
“Lifetime” is an addictive track that explores the enchantment of finding the love of your life after the all-too-common experience of trial and error in relationships. A tune that connects lovers, new and old, and provides the perfect soundtrack for knowing you have finally found the person meant for you. “Plain Sailing” once again shines a light on SG Lewis’ sun-soaked vocals that provide soul-warming danceability and expertly craft a vibe that carries you away to your personal happy space.
As AudioLust & HigherLove reaches its curtain call, “Honest” brings us back down to Earth from the upper echelons of auditory magic that SG has provided from the first beat of this masterful album. AudioLust & HigherLove checks all boxes from an SG body of work. From high-energy bangers to the most soulful ballads, which place his incredible talent at center stage, this album is an incredible success for the ever-improving producer.
