Above & Beyond's Paavo Siljamäki Announces Debut Album Under P.O.S Alias

Paavo Siljamäki releases his remix of Kyan’s “Lonely River” with anāme **under the P.O.S alias, along with news of his debut album, Deeper Tales.**

Paavo Olavi Siljamäki, also known as P.O.S, has quite the legacy with 20-plus years under his belt as one-third of Above & Beyond, among other accolades he’s gained throughout his career. But much akin to many other artists in the scene, he’s felt lost and questioned his passion for electronic music, especially when facing a high degree of burnout and contracting COVID during the pandemic.

These personal and health-related issues led Paavo to seek renewed inspiration in nature and explore his passion for sailing, stating, “There’s something about being closer with nature that is really healing – and very inspiring.” This solace on the sea revived his inspiration for writing and producing dance music, even going so far as to move into a houseboat to keep that feeling alive and nurture it.

This renewed passion led to the creation of Above & Beyond’s ambient, meditation-centered album Flow State album in 2019, but after the pandemic, it re-sparked his creative spirit under the P.O.S alias. Those familiar with Anjunabeats’ past will remember tracks like “Remember,” “Amnesiac,” and “Gravity,” among others that landed in the early 2000s – and now, after taking the stage at Anjunadeep Open Air Los Angeles he’s gearing up to release his debut album under the alias, Deeper Tales.

Due out this spring, this soulful, heart-on-my-sleeve collection of cuts acts as a personal love letter to the scene from Paavo as he looked back on the club hits that inspired him as a teenager, his career since, and his personal struggles over the last few years. Fans won’t have to wait long for their taste of Deeper Tales as the lead single, a remix of Kyan’s “Lonely River” with anāme has landed along with the album announcement.

As a fan of Kyan, and even wanting to get him as one of the singers on Above & Beyond’s last Acoustic tour, Paavo was elated to work on this remix. Groovy and soulful, the contrast between P.O.S’ light-hearted melodies and anāme’s brooding progressive production creates a beautiful soundscape that highlights Kyan’s haunting vocals. This remix effectively sets a template for the rest of Deeper Tales to be equally as danceable and intricate, so stay tuned for the album to drop later this year.

Those looking to immerse themselves in the sounds of P.O.S will also get their chance in the early months of 2023 as Paavo is set to head off on tour. The initial phase of tour dates kicks off on March 16 at CODA in Toronto before stops in Miami, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and more.
