Osutin Holds Nothing Back on ‘Let It Rip’

Arizona-based artist Osutin gives ruthless additions to the techno and breaks arsenal with his new EP, Let It Rip, out now on Teethy!

Osutin is back with another absolute belter of an EP, featuring four club-ready breaks and techno tunes that prove to us that he is always ready to light up the dancefloor. Coming out of Arizona, this DJ and producer has a solidified balance between classic electronic and uniquely crafted sounds. Osutin’s newest release, Let It Rip, brings a good diversity of sound, capitalizing on his acid-etched synths in some tunes, while other tracks show more focus on the driving percussion and its integration with rhythmic synth patterns. As this is the third release from Osutin that’s landed on Teethy, it’s looking like more techno heaters are on the way!

The first track, “All Gas,” gets everyone tuning in off to a proper start – Osutin truly lets it loose right from the jump. The vocal sample comes out near the beginning, getting you pumped up for the momentum guaranteed throughout the tune. Creative kick rhythms are paired with buzzing static hi-hats to ensure your feet are moving while the synth effect has enough melody in it to jolt the system. Overall, this track is aligned with Osutin’s own descriptions of his productions; “Body music, all gas, no brakes.”

In “Break It On Down,” Osutin comes out again with immediacy, using classic four-on-the-floor drum patterns to warm your body up before launching into pounding, acid-etched synth effects that modulate throughout the tune. Pumping energy into this one, Osutin then uses some detuned synths and drum breaks to serve as a reprieve before bringing you right back into head-spinning synth patterns.

Starting off with some classic house stab chords, the title track of the EP, “Let it Rip,” brings a more techy feel to the dancefloor. The drum pattern breaks the norm enough to give an uneven wiggle, providing a swinging foundation to the monstrous arpeggiated synth line in the first break. Drum breaks give a bit of room in the tune for more synth effects to come through the atmosphere, while a warm sweeping bass keeps you grooving.

The last tune on the EP shouldn’t be slept on – “Mind Control” uses a hypnotizing vocal sample alongside grinding rhythms to capture your attention. The variability between tight rhythms, multiple synth layers, and punchy bass make this massive tune a great cap to the release as a whole.
