Bart Skils takes his talents back to Drumcode with the release of his latest two-tracker on the imprint, Horsepower.
Dutch techno artist Bart Skils has become one of the most beloved members of the Drumcode family over the years. From releases like New Era and Settle In The Sun to massive collaborations such as “Your Mind” with label head Adam Beyer and countless performances at their showcases – he’s ingrained himself in the legacy of this imprint. Bart Skils legacy continued earlier this year with Shades Of Summer, his collaborative two-tracker with Weska that captivated techno heads.
Now, as the fall months continue to take hold, Bart Skils returns to Drumcode with two fresh tunes on Horsepower. This release sees the Dutch artist kick everyone into a higher gear from the jump as the title track captivates from the moment it begins. As the chugging bassline rolls forward, it gives way to hi-hats and a sample of Jefferson Airplane’s “White Rabbit” layered in to blur the line between fantasy and reality. Bart Skils builds this into a booming drop is one that will leave techno lovers losing their minds on the dancefloor.
The second track, “Sunshine in the Dust,” is another walloping dose of techno greatness from Bart Skils, as its faster pace lifts listeners up and whisks them away to a different place in space and time. The percussion leans on the tribal side of the spectrum and plays perfectly with the vocals, which will leave you feeling as if you’ve stumbled upon a rave in the depths of the jungle.
