Funkadelic bass duo Big Gigantic returns with a massive sequel to their bestselling album and brings nothing but heaters to the table.

One of the most influential acts in the game that has shaped the future of stage performances and electro-funk is the Colorado-based duo Big Gigantic. With their next-level stage production and hits that feature in movies, commercials, and any setlist imaginable, it’s no secret that the whole world catches the vibe these two have to offer to the world.

Now, the wait is over for those wondering what Big Gigantic’s next move would be as the duo gifted their fans with a massive release perfect for the summer months. Returning to the speakers with a full-length sequel to one of their top-selling albums, Big Gigantic has brought to the table their most GIGANTIC work yet, fit to their name – Brighter Future 2.

Brighter Future 2 offers a whopping 13 tracks, all sailing effortlessly into one another. This collection of tracks crosses all sorts of styles with their signature bari sax sound and extremely infectious melodic hooks found within it. Each track brings a legendary feature from another influential artist, including fell sax don GRiZ and others such as Vic Mensa, Brasstracks, Elohim, and more.

The vibes are good, the sky is clear, and this collection of works showcases just what this duo came to do for their listeners, painting a picture of a future that promotes hope, love, and a good time. Listen to Big Gigantic’s Brighter Future 2 on Spotify or your preferred platform, and read on for a deeper dive into its tracks!

Brighter Future 2 is filled with layers that can be peeled back so that the magic and intricacy in each track can be exposed.

“Future’s All I See” reels listeners in and features the vocal mystic MOONz and a tantalizing build-up into a cascading drop of glimmering synths and a groovy slapping bass. The energy ramps up when the feature with GRiZ, “Open Your Mind,” blasts through the system with a punching bassline and essence of reggae combined with the extreme instrumental talent both groups hold. It is one of the top tracks in the album as GRiZ’s feature shines when paired with Big Gigantic.

“Keep On Rising” mellows the vibe with world-renowned vocalist Aloe Blacc. The neo-funk essence is infectiously enjoyable for people even out of the EDM sphere, making for a collaboration we never knew we needed. Brooke Williams brings a seductive feature onto “Losing My Mind,” encompassed with the signature cascading synths and flares, bringing more of a pop sound to the piece. This one wasn’t my cup of tea, but an excellent tune for those looking for a more mellow sound.

Bringing a party to the project is “Renegade” with Party Pupils, showing off the familiar flair of Dom’s sax riffs, paired with an infectious hook and a groovy 120 house beat. It’s a breath of fresh air for those looking for a new summer anthem filled with OG Big Gigantic sounds and a modern twist.

If there’s something Big Gigantic is good at, it’s highlighting some notable hip-hop artists.

Past favorites include their collab with Felly on their 2020 album Free Your Mind, “St. Lucia,” and “Highly Possible” with Wacka Flocka Flame on Brighter Future. For this album, “Just The Same” with Vic Mensa and Mick Jenkins was a standout single off the project, showcasing the very the artist hold and a great example of how hip-hop and dance music can create a beautiful blend. “Deja Vu” with Kota The Friend itches that scratch in the back of your brain. It’s a gorgeous blend of Kota’s clever lyricism and flow with a complex drumline across an echoing catchy melodic tune.

Big Gigantic’s collaboration with Elohim on “Free” really does a number on highlighting the gorgeous elements of her voice while matching her emotive power in choral layering and a drum beat to match. With a change of pace, “Energy” with MZG gives off a classic Big Gigantic sound of high-amplitude rhythmic breaks and matching synth patterns – and they aren’t shy when adding some intensely smooth sax breakdowns on top of the hip-hop flairs. Then, Brasstracks and Big Gigantic’s collaborative efforts return on “Paid” with a full band sequence featuring Rothstein‘s vocals for another match made in heaven.

Nevve draws listeners in with her smooth vocal style, with a dream-pop aesthetic, dropping you into a nostalgic sax blend of sample elements and an angelic synth progression. Overall, this track stands out with its spotlight on the vocalists’ element and Super Future’s future bass blend. “Second Time” takes on a neo-jazz style, Covex’s vocals featured as a highlight. The pumping bass across an instrumental hook creates a captivating experience for this listener without losing track of the album’s overall theme.

The grand finale is Big Gigantic’s solo track of the beloved album single “Love Unlimited.”

The funky key and sax conversation on “Love Unlimited” showcases the organic talent the duo has owned from the start. A drum beat introduces the energy build-up while keeping the flow of the instrumentals filled with riffs, arpeggiations, progression switch-ups, and other gorgeous uses of musicality. It ends on a soul-snatching piano solo to wrap up all the journeys we went on listening to this project all the way through.

Big Gigantic is here to bring electronic music to the forefront, showing how ever-changing and moldable it is to whatever sound you’re hoping to create. The story Brighter Future 2 provides is personable to every listener and has an outstanding variety with the perfect touch of electronic music fused with hip-hop, soul, jazz, pop, you name it. Whoever can experience these tunes live will enjoy their purpose on a whole elevated level.
