Mz Worthy makes her way over to HE.SHE.THEY. and turns heads with diverse soundwaves on her new EP, Here I Come!
The house music industry would not be the same without the fun-filled boundary-pushing beats of Anabatic Records founder Mz Worthy. As co-founder of Dirtybird, she put her music on the map with offerings like “Irst Te,” “Dip,” and “Tric Trac” and has graced other major labels like Defected and Toolroom along the way. Recently she turned the page to the next chapter of her life, embracing who she truly is by coming out as a transgender woman. Revitalized by her newfound freedom, she has unleashed a new level of creativity and the music that’s emerging from her studio is nothing short of spectacular. Case and point, Here I Come.
This three-track heater is out now on HE.SHE.THEY. – an inclusive label, fashion, and event series that offers a sanctuary for the queer community and anyone who wants to express themselves free from prejudice. “Here I Come” kicks off the multi-style package with gusto as the gritty rave essence meets domineering vocals by the amazing L.A.C. This track smolders with diva energy and overflows with slick auditory treats including playful laserlike sound blips and vibrating synth blasts that will turn your body inside out!
Next up is “Can You Tell Me” and what I can definitely tell you is that this track is outrageously sexy. The woozy tempo sets the tone for an intoxicating frolic into the after-hours while the masculine vocal touches on a story of a turbulent romance in the midst of the pandemic. The emotional layers to this track are immense and the way Mz Worthy unleashes a pocket of heat within the rumbling bassline while mashing up our brain with trippy melodics proves that she’s a force to be reckoned with.
Finally, she winds things down with “White Wash,” an alluring cinematic body of work that will have you floating off into fantasy land. You’ll easily be mesmerized by the elongated synth waves that tickle the senses while also feeling a deep calm within the soul. There are even moments of quirky vocal distortion that add to the whimsy and before you know it you’ll be spinning around the room, eyes closed tight, arms reaching out to the cosmos, without a care in the world. Simply gorgeous.
