Patrick Topping Goes Interstellar on ‘Planet Session’ EP

Tech house phenom Patrick Topping has been on fire as of late and shows no signs of slowing on the latest three-track EP Planet Session.

After exploding onto the scene back in 2017 with his global hit “Be Sharp Say Nowt,” Patrick Topping has carved out a niche for himself that few others have achieved in such a short amount of time. He’s excelled at creating high-energy tech-house bangers while also implementing numerous production elements across various sub-genres of house. From massive sets at Mysteryland, ARC Music Festival, and CRSSD Festival to the launch of his massively successful label Trick Records, he’s on a path to the top with no end in sight. Today, he’s unveiled the next EP in his incredible catalog of bangers, Planet Session.

Planet Session opens with the infectious club heater, “Lift Off.” Staying true to Patrick Topping’s interplanetary theme, this tune opens with extraterrestrial synth pads and airy space elements before dropping into a powerful two-stepping rhythm. It’s a cosmic tech-house banger that sets the bar high for the rest of our journey through the outer limits.

“Quick To The Mothership” places Topping’s original, vocoded vocals front and center as he urges listeners to join him and his Trick mates alongside lifeforms of another realm on the trip. While the tracks’ production remains at maximum energy, he introduces a litany of rave-ready synth stabs and a driving bassline deep enough to break through a black hole.

Then, he turns on the afterburners with the EP’s namesake “Planet Session.” An instant favorite of the collection, this is Patrick Topping at his absolute finest. An addictive groove drives the track as an arpeggiated bassline carries the low end. Then, a barrage of plasma-charged stabs and captivating four on the floor rhythm brings our interstellar adventure back down to Earth in expert fashion.

Take a trip through the cosmos with Patrick Topping on his latest EP Planet Session, available for stream or download now on your favorite platform, or Spotify below. Let us know which track is your favorite in the comments.

Logan Garrison

It was a decade ago that Logan Garrison, better known as DJ Lo_G, first took the stage to spin sets for crowds in the snowy towns of Lake Tahoe and Aspen. Originally spinning sounds in the realm of glitch and bass music, he began to develop a passion for all things house as he returned to his hometown and hasn’t looked back since. Over the years, DJ Lo_G has become a fixture in the Aspen nightlife scene as he has found a home at Belly Up and regularly warms up the stage for some of dance music’s biggest artists like The Chainsmokers, Chris Lake, Slow Magic, Nora En Pure, and most recently ZHU. Joining the EDM Identity team back in 2018, he’s dug even deeper into dance music and the festival scene. Whether he’s covering events like Mysteryland and shows in Aspen, interviewing artists like Hannah Wants, and reviewing fresh releases, his passion for the entire community shines throughout.
