Toronto-based artist Feyln offers up a hefty helping of progressive vibes on his latest EP, Culpas, which is out now on Emercive Recordings!
While the sound of house and techno has permeated the entire planet, one of the countries that has been a home to some of the most forward-thinking producers is Canada. A seemingly endless supply of artists who create surreal soundscapes have surfaced from the country over the years, and one of the latest to leave listeners impressed is Feyln.
Defined by his unique take on electronic music that marries elements from deep house, progressive house, and techno, Feyln has caught the ear of many with some remarkable releases like “Grey Skies” with Oliver Wickham and the Fractals EP. Earlier this year the Toronto-based artist landed on Immersed with the Halcyon EP and “Titanica” to continue his rise through the ranks, and now he’s found a home among the Emercive Recordings family with the Culpas EP.
Out now for your listening pleasure, the Culpas EP features four fresh tunes from Feyln that further showcase his remarkable, genre-bending style. The first track “Burn” acts as a fantastic intro to the soundscape he’s created with its soft tones and piano notes. Soon after a pumping progressive beat kicks it up a notch to deliver the perfect amount of energy as it lets up for the vocals to be put on display. “I Can Fever” arrives next to help continue the ride into the progressive realm as its kicks and hi-hats carry feet forward. While initially giving off minimal vibes, Feyln layers in some complexity to melt minds and fully immerse listeners along the way.
Changing the pace from the first two progressive-driven tunes is “Square Waves” which injects a hefty dose of electro into the mix. If you’re someone who loves diving into sound design this is the track for you as Feyln adds in plenty of tasty treats and a fitting vocal sample over the chugging bassline. Then, he ends the journey into the depths of his mind with the final tune “Masquerada.” Leaning heavier into his techno influences for this track, it brings forth eerie, ominous sounds that dominate the soul. You’ll just simply need to hear on a proper system in a dark warehouse to get the full effect, and we can’t wait for that day to come.
Listen to the Culpas EP on Spotify or your favorite platform, and stay tuned for more to come from Feyln as we continue to dive deeper into 2021!
