Junior Sanchez Shows His ‘Divergent’ Skills on New EP

Junior Sanchez makes his debut on the Crosstown Rebels imprint with the eclectic and hypnotizing Divergent EP.

Junior Sanchez is a name that demands attention in the house scene as he’s served fans with a plethora of fresh tracks since emerging in 1994. The KULTUR label boss’ experience is recognized among industry giants, and recently he has joined the 2021 virtual Winter Music Conference lineup. With years of stellar house productions under his belt, Junior Sanchez now adds four more tracks to his catalog in the form of the Divergent EP.

Divergent erupts with an unyielding compilation of percussion in the track “Live Forever” featuring Todd Terry. Junior Sanchez takes his time crafting the song’s atmosphere, tapping into a chorus of synths to slowly introduce Terry’s moving vocals. “Live Forever” pulses with vibrant swirls of kicks, snares, and hi-hats, each ready to guide you to the dancefloor.

I was in the studio with Todd in Ibiza. He heard it and liked it, so I was just joking and said sing something on this. He laid some ideas down… and boom: you got a track with Todd Terry on lead vocals.

Kicking the groove up a notch, Junior Sanchez offers an energizing melody of piano chords in “After Love.” The track continues the mesmerizing flow of beats he previously introduced in “Live Forever.” Keeping us on our toes, a punch of vocals interject between the beats every so often, laying out a perfect environment for listeners to get lost in.

Moving forward, Junior Sanchez and Todd Terry join forces once again for “My Mind Goes.” The song does not shirk away from the minimalist cluster of beats as the track’s primary focus – and it echoes with the vocals reverberating throughout. The pair leaves us with a hypnotic force to pull listeners deep into a dreamy haze.

He aptly ends with “Body Heat,” leading into a funky ’90s atmosphere. Sultry in sound, this tune cranks up the dial with a galore of intense tech house. The song elicits images of dancing in dark clubs deep into the night, only to emerge hours later with the sun beaming brightly.

Junior Sanchez undoubtedly gets our blood pumping throughout the EP’s duration. Although nostalgic in nature, Divergent showcases his timeless sound. Check out the EP on Spotify or stream it via your favorite music platform, and leave us your thoughts in the comments!
