Body Ocean Makes Waves with Debut EP ‘Narcissist’

Nik from Noisia and Jeremy from The Upbeats have collided to create Body Ocean, a house music project that is set to make a splash.

When you think of the names Noisia and The Upbeats, your mind immediately gravitates towards drum and bass. Though over the years we’ve come to associate those legends with that genre, Nik Roos of Noisia and Jeremy Glenn of The Upbeats are diving headfirst into the house scene with their new collaborative concept, Body Ocean.

These two lifelong friends were brought together by drum and bass, but after listening to the clean production and hooking basslines offered by Body Ocean, you would assume they had a background in house music from the start. The duo has two tracks out that have been released on the mau5trap x Insomniac and WAY WAY Records compilations and has now dropped their debut EP Narcissist that’s out now for your listening pleasure.

Released on their new imprint Dattan Records, Narcissist is comprised of three brilliant house tracks. “Red Flags” brings with it tribal, mischievous soundscapes with a rumbling bassline. “Screen Time” is a nod to social media culture with trippy, distorted vocal samples and a dynamic style. And the title track “Narcissist” is an absolute stunner as well.

Influenced by genres such as R&B, Eurohouse, and Garage, this duo makes it evident that they are not afraid to break out of stylistic constraints and do so effortlessly on this EP. After listening, it comes as no surprise that Narcissist has already caught the attention of staples in the scene like Claude VonStroke, deadmau5, Chris Lake, and more.

Though the circumstances are not ideal for live shows in most places around the world, Jeremy lives in New Zealand which is currently not on lockdown. So as of right now, the dynamic duo is set to play their first-ever show ever this weekend on October 24 – and hopefully, once things return to normalcy, we’ll be lucky enough to see them take the stage globally.
