i_o Signs Exclusively to Armada; Releases “In My Head”

Rising superstar i_o has released tracks left and right this year, and now he’ll be doing so exclusively through Armada Music!

If there’s one artist who has truly skyrocketed in the dance music scene over the past two years, its i_o. After catching the eye of notable names in the industry like deadmau5 and Andrew Rayel, and remixing releases from dance legends such as Armin van Buuren and Above & Beyond it was only a matter of time before he would reach even greater heights. And if there was any doubt that he was slowing down, with this release it’s become clear that there’s absolutely no stopping him now.

Now, after releasing solid EPs like NRG 444 and AM 444 on mau5trap earlier this year, i_o has announced that he will be taking his talents exclusively to Armada Music with the release of his latest single “In My Head.” Part I and II of the track present a hyper-melodic, techno-progressive style that successfully plays with the boundaries of traditional techno and his signature sound.

After fans caught a glimpse of the song during his set at the EDC Las Vegas Virtual Rave-A-Thon earlier in the year, his followers have been eagerly awaiting for the tune to drop. It’s the perfect release to stake his claim in Armada and can also be a relatable track for fans as it gently touches on depression and the turmoils i_o has been facing during the recent quarantine.

‘In My Head’ reflects on depression and the lengths you go to quell the warped anxiety and polar ups and downs. I wrote this after I’d been up every night until 8 a.m. for what felt like months. It’d been a while since I’d played a show, and I didn’t realize what kind of high I had been riding until touring stopped abruptly in March 2020. I really wanted to write something uplifting, but the chords got more and more melancholy and the progression got more and more tense. Finally, I was left with a topline that repeated over and over, an ironic rapture that was contrary to the heavyheartedness I was going through.
