ALRT just released NRG Vol. 1, an energetic debut EP that showcases the genre-defying sound he’s become known for.
ALRT is a DJ/producer that’s been consistently climbing the ranks within the bass scene since his first self-released singles just two years ago. He had an impressive run last year that saw him collaborate with Ghastly and remix “Love Is Gone” by SLANDER, and now he’s starting off 2020 with a bang. His debut EP, NRG Vol. 1, is out now with five tracks that establish ALRT as one of the top artists to watch in bass music.
JOYRYDE brought him on several tour stops last year, and his influence can definitely be heard throughout ALRT’s music. It’s a unique blend of high energy elements that sometimes can’t be narrowed down to any genre. Similarly, he has also caught the attention of Kayzo as NRG Vol. 1 has landed on his Welcome Records label. He’ll soon be opening for Kayzo on the West Coast stops of his upcoming tour as well.
NRG Vol. 1 starts with “Higher Love,” a song that combines everything from trap to hardcore to rave music. The energy continues with “Feel My NRG” with Callum Higby followed by “Pushin’ On“, the lead single from the EP. “RVLTN” and “Blood” close out the EP and show off the deeper and heavier sides of ALRT’s style of bass music. Every track is a unique adventure and NRG Vol. 1 should not be missed.

Congratulations on the new release! Your debut EP NRG Vol. 1 is out now on Kayzo’s Welcome Records. How have you grown as an artist since releasing your first single in 2018 and what does this EP mean to you?
This EP means the world to me. I think it took me some time to really figure out my brand and put myself into a position where I can release an EP that shows what I am all about and what my music is all about.
What can fans expect from NRG Vol. 1? Your music combines several different genres and styles. What was the production process like for this EP?
The process took some time. I gathered what I think are the best tracks I’ve worked on for the last 6 months, and I really tried to show what I can do with different genres and my own take on them. It took time to develop what I really wanted this EP to be, but I figured I’d just create what I enjoy the most.
You also have taken on remix duties for tracks like Sikdope’s “Follow.” What’s your approach when you’re putting a fresh spin on other artist’s songs and is it similar to crafting up an original tune?
It’s a similar process to starting a new track for me. I like to try to use as many new parts as I can. I’ll always use the main theme of the track and try to work on it like its new.
Some of your influences include The Prodigy, Daft Punk, and The Chemical Brothers, as most of your inspiration comes from the ‘90s electronic scene. How do these influences manifest themselves in your music?
As a kid of the ’90s, those artists really made who I am today. Socials didn’t exist yet, and you really had to figure out what they were about from their music and branding. My brand, NRG, comes from the vibe those artists gave me as a kid, TONS of energy, and I like to use a lot of drama and tension in my music.
NRG Vol. 1 definitely sounds at home on Welcome Records and you’ll be supporting Kayzo this spring on his upcoming tour in several cities on the West Coast. What has his support meant to you, and what are you most looking forward to on this tour?
In the past, you’ve also toured with JOYRYDE, who you first met nearly twenty years ago! How did the two of you first meet and what impact has he had on your career?
Jonney and I go way back and I’m proud to call him my best friend. We met 17 years ago in Israel when we both were working on different music projects and connected immediately. I love his drive and his commitment to his friends, music, and the world of music as a whole.
He’s an amazing friend that’s always there for me, and he’s given me confidence and offers amazing advice whenever I need it. We have the same taste in music and are also the same age, so it just works out perfectly.
2020 is poised to be your biggest year yet. Now that the EP is out, what else do you hope to accomplish this year?
I would definitely like to tour a lot more and travel the world, showcasing my EP and the rest of my music!
