The trance scene is bursting with talented up and coming artists and here’s who we think you should be keeping a close eye on in 2020!

Trance is growing with each passing year and attracting fans from around the globe. While there is something to be said about supporting classic trance and trance legends, the up and coming artists in the genre should certainly be in the spotlight as well. These artists are the ones who help to push the scene forward and progress the sound, with many poised to be future legends themselves.

Whether it’s in uplifting, psy, tech, or any of the subgenres of trance in between, there is no shortage of booming fresh talent. To spotlight the up and coming stars who have been headlining massive events, we have put together a list of artists of some of our favorite rising stars in the trance scene. Let us know who you’ll be watching this year!

Six Trance Artists to Watch in 2020

Jeff Ozmitz

Since the mid-2010s, Elliptical Sun artist Jeff Ozmitz has been releasing hit after hit, proving he’s a progressive trance behemoth that can run with the best of them. After being signed on to Black Sunset, Nueva, and Jaytech’s Positronics label, Ozmitz has crafted his unmatched sound, releasing some of the best progressive trance tracks and remixes out right now.

Ozmits works with heavy beats, euphoric chord progressions, and fat basslines to create unique tracks that are complete scorchers on the dancefloor. DJing in Chicago, he’s hands down one of the best trance DJ’s that the city can offer. Opening up for huge names such as Ilan Bluestone, Roger Shah, Alpha 9, he’s a crowd favorite in the windy city as the Chicago Trance Fam flocks to every set he’s announced in.

After a hefty year of releases, Jeff Ozmitz has an even more exciting year ahead of him in 2020. This year, Jeff is slated to have one of the most active years of any artist on Elliptical. Make sure to stay tuned to Jeff Ozmitz’s exciting releases and #GetElevated this year with Chicago’s most talented trance DJ!

Elated

Earlier this year trance legend Paul van Dyk dropped a stunning single called “Parallel Dimension“. It’s not a surprise that he would release something so beautiful but what was intriguing about the track was the collaboration with Elated. As he is not as well-known many fans clamored to learn more about this mysterious artist.

With even one listen to any of his tracks such as “Epiphany” and “Breathe” it becomes crystal clear that his unique style of uplifting trance sticks out from the rest. He calls his unique sound “fusion trance” as it is an amalgamation of the best parts of progressive house and uplifting trance and definitely breaks the mold of the cookie-cutter uplifting trance that is dominating the scene today.

His collaboration with Paul van Dyk made the trance scene take notice of Elated but his unique style is what will keep him in the spotlight. Like the beautiful hummingbird depicted in his logo,  Elated is set to take flight and soar in 2020 and we can’t wait to see it!

Adrian Alexander

Adrian Alexander has been pumping out huge tracks that have been scorching dancefloors since his debut in 2014. For years Adrian has dedicated as much time and energy as he possibly could into his music and listening to his productions, that is all but too apparent.

Even though he works as a high school Chemistry teacher during the day, there is no denying the chemistry he has with music when he produces tracks like “On The Rocks,” “Nyquist,” “Propagate,” and “Requiem.” Alexander uses energetic beats and percussions with exhilarating chord progressions to make eccentric tracks that make everyone who catches wind of them move uncontrollably.

With his signature heavy basslines and addictive melodies, it’s no wonder he’s caught the ears of Above & Beyond, Roger Shah, Armin Van Buuren, and many more. And if being a teacher and spirited artist in the scene wasn’t enough, Adrian Alexander also takes on the role of A&R for Elliptical Sun Recordings to flex his tastemaking muscle.

Last year treated Adrian exceptionally well and it looks like he will only be gaining more momentum in the year 2020. We can only expect more excellence to come out of this talented musician.

Alex Sonata

Anyone who is a fan of Gareth Emery or the Garuda imprint as a whole has definitely heard of Alex Sonata and the magical tracks he has released. Bringing a style that is infectious and dripping with delicious progressive elements his ability to infuse tracks with cascading melodies and beautiful progressive and uplifting tracks stands out among the rest.

Described by Garuda as a production powerhouse, it’s evident why he spoken of so highly once you listen to his original tracks such as “Meraki,” remixes such as “Beautiful Rage” and collaborations such as “Universal.“ In these past two years, he has collaborated with the likes of Dean Chalmers and TheRio numerous times and together they have created truly stunning tracks such as “Greenlights” and “S.O.S.” that were supported by A State of Trance.

Having followed his growth and evolution over the years it truly feels like 2020 is his year to shine as he had a stunning 2019. Here’s to hoping that happens but either way, something in the air tells us that 2020 is his year to shine!

Alessandra Roncone Press Shot

When it comes to quality uplifting productions, look no further than the Italian woman who burst into the scene in the mid-2010’s ready to dazzle crowds with her energy and beauty. Breakout star and sure to be chart smasher Alessandra Roncone came onto the scene in 2014 with releases on Manuel Le Saux’s label Extrema. Aly & Fila got wind of her talent and immediately signed her onto FSOE in 2017, where she created incredible up lifters such as “Sogno“, “Infinito“, and “Serenity“.

Dubbed as Trance Queen by her home country, Roncone had a very successful year in 2019 releasing more tracks this year than any other year prior and became one of the most talked-about artists in the uplifting trance scene. Her songs continued to rise in the charts and find a home on major labels in the trance scene.

Adding onto her already impressive resume, she was added onto numerous labels in 2019 including Grotesque and her successful podcast Forza has generated thousands of listeners weekly. Roncone also left a lasting impression during her recent US debut at Dreamstate SoCal late last year where she definitely grew even more fans in North America.

It is clear that Roncone shows nothing but promise, so you don’t want to miss her conquer the world of uplifting trance this year in 2020!

Ashley Smith

Ashley Smith

Facebook | Twitter | SoundCloud

Ashley Smith is a rising artist who has been heating up the trance world in Europe with her name listed on lineups such as Rong 9th Anniversary and Reality in London. Though she was a producer for many years, she took up DJing in 2012 and has been climbing and gaining more acclaim since then.

Over the years she has received support from the likes of Jordan Suckley and his Damaged label as her style matches perfectly with his style. More recently she has been receiving support from powerhouse label Subculture and we would not be surprised if she was signed to Music First Agency in future years as well as her style seems to fit their sound. If you listen to any of her tracks and it’s easy to see why she’s so well revered. She infuses euphoric melodies with banging tech-trance and surely knows how to captivate on the decks.

In 2019, Ashley Smith made her USA debut as she earned a coveted spot on the Dreamstate SoCal lineup and played a stunning back to back set with Maria Healy and it is clear that she isn’t slowing down anytime soon. We can’t wait for more trance fans to discover her sound as she has the makings of a future trance legend!
