Back in 2013 Tiga and Audion teamed up to release a house track for the ages dubbed “Let’s Go Dancing” that quickly became an instant classic!
James Sontag is a Canadian DJ/producer better known as Tiga. He launched Turbo Recordings in 1998 which not only helped launch his own career but played a pivotal role in the success of other artists like Chromeo, Proxy, and Azari & III. He’s also remixed tracks from LCD Soundsystem, Justice, Friendly Fires, Mylo, and so many other great producers. In 2013 he teamed up with Audion for one of his biggest tracks to date with the release of “Let’s Go Dancing”.
Audion was born in Texas but grew up in Michigan where he was heavily influenced by Detroit Techno. After attending the University of Michigan he launched Ghostly International and dropped his first single, “Hands Up For Detroit” in 1999. After that he released several singles as Audion as well as the aliases False, Jabberjaw, and as well as under his own name, Matthew Dear.
So, when these two legends came together to make “Let’s Go Dancing” it became an instant hit. This is a track that has been remixed by countless house producers and sampled by even more. Everyone from Chris Lake to Adam Beyer has created versions of this song and it continues to find its way into sets to this day.
Although this track came out before I ever fell in love with dance music, it has become one of my favorites. There aren’t many words but every time I hear the phrase “let’s go dancing” I find myself finishing the line, “I wanna go dancing with you all night dancing.” Take a listen below if you haven’t heard it and let us know in the comments if it brings you just as much joy.
